Will question on power being diverted

Hi all

A nice bright sunny day today, the panels are supplying 100% of the energy to meet the home supply needs 👍🏻🙌🏻

But why is my fully charged battery sending a few watts back to the grid? Surly it should be sitting there dormant?

I have ECO mode enabled and the only setting I’ve specified on the inverter, is to charge the battery at the cheap rate (i’m with EON Drive) between 00:00 & 07:00

Midlands_Solar Ignore the animated dots... the inverter reports the power in/out of each component, and the UI just invents the animation representing flow of power, but it can't track where individual electrons are going, It could just have well decided that all 29W were going to the house, and it was only solar that was going to the grid.

The real question, then, is why the battery is discharging 29W? I'm guessing that's just being used to power the BMS (internal electronics).

Also, the "away" view, like the web portal, is based on 5-minute snapshots of the state, and so can be affected by short-term fluctuations at the instant of the sample.

Yes sorry to elaborate, I was wanting to know why it appeared wattage from the battery showing as an animated representation going back into the grid.

As you say likely it’s just powering the battery internals, I guess I took the animation as actual reflective power flow, which if it’s doing what we think it is, then it isn’t doing this at all.

Thanks on the cloud view, I normally switch to the interval view as this is real time, but it was having issues connecting, this is transient as it does eventually connect (my inverter is connected via a wi-fi range extender)

Just to clarify, the local view in the GivEnergy app isnt real time either, its just updated every 10 seconds rather than 5 minutes so still can suffer from showing a momentary point in time snapshot.

My battery seems to showing as taking in 28W... though in my case it's not full, but I inhibit solar charging.
(The standard app doesn't explicitly show whether power is in or out - have to infer from the animation. There's a free 3rd party android app that shows things more explicitly - I really ought to figure out how to add links from this mobile interface.)

I did a pause discharge between 12:00 and 16:00 yesterday to ensure we had enough in the battery for the saving session and get us to 19:00 but instead of being idle when not charging it was discharging at 29W. Not a big problem because it is a tiny amount but I don't understand why it can't be idle like it is when it is fully discharged or fully charged when solar exceeds load.

The firmware seems to full of weird bugs like this.
