EV Charger, Intelligent Octopus Go & Firmware Updates

Hi everyone.

I have just received an email from Octopus saying that my Jaguar iPace is no longer compatible with Intelligent Octopus Go (which gives a rate of 7.5p between 23:30 and 05:30) due to a security software update being rolled out to JLR vehicles (which is VERY annoying), so I will be automatically be moved onto standard Go (9p for 00:30 to 04:30).

My question is this - is there any reason to hope that the GivEnergy charger will integrate with Intelligent Octopus Go in the future?
I also wonder how firmware updates are rolled out for the EV charger - in the GivEnergy portal you can see the Inverter and Battery firmware versions in the Inverter settings, but I see no mention of firmware versions or any option to apply firmware updates in the "My EV Charger" section

My mate had the same email. He wasn’t impressed.

I'm in the same situation, hoping there's a chance it will get certified soon. From what I understand Octopus and GivEnergy are working on it (according to someone in Octopus EV support).

For the EVC firmware update, I wondered that too. In my mobile app it does claim to be on the latest firmware now, but I see nothing in the logs that indicates an update was applied. It looks like it just updates silently??

In the movile app, go to 'EV Charger', click the wrench icon top right, then 'EV Charger Information', check your firmware version is reported as AC_GL1_1_10 (https://kb.givenergy.cloud/article.php?id=132&oid=27)

I have also just had a GivEnergy charger installed to compliment my storage battery and inverter but have also been informed the GivEnergy charger is not compatible with Octopus Intelligent Go. This incompatibility needs to be sorted.

Yeah, given GE's history I wouldn't hope for any integration.
If you want IO and you have to use a charger (due to car incompatibilities) then your current options are the Ohme or Zappi charger. Opting for the GE charger and hoping that it gets integrated is a fool's errand.

It might happen, or it might not happen. And given GE's history with firmware there's a better than even chance that it won't work correctly.

There are lots of chargepoints not compatible with IOG. I'd think the ball is primarily in Octopus' court, and I don't suppose the GE EVSE has a particularly large market share at the moment.

If you buy a GE charger (or indeed any other charger that isn't integrated) in the hopes that it will become integrated then you need your bumps felt, especially if you need the 6 hours off-peak that IO offers,

I'm in touch with Wim @Wonder Watt who are looking at integrating with generic smart plugs to control the granny charger for my "dumb" Mitsubishi PHEV. I currently manually change charge times in the summer when I'm on Agile, and leave on the static Go window in the winter.
