Hi all, new adopter with solar + 2 x 5kw batteries , all has been fine and slowly getting used to manage the system but noticed today that despite app showing 100% charge one of the batteries has no lights on the front of the box and despite operating the switch on the side of the box still no lights, any advice please that may shed some light on it !
Could I ask that any advice comes in non jargon please as I’m a long way from getting all the abbreviations yet
Thank

Gordon

Have you tried holding the switch in for a few seconds? That is what is needed to turn the batteries on or off. A momentary press doesn't work in my experience.

Then a call to your installer and/or GiVenergy support is in order.

There seems to be an issue with the details given on how to link multiple batteries. This causes the battery to 'hang' and only the manual turn on turn off of the BMS works. This is done by pulling the RED power supply cable to the BMS, waiting a few minutes, then reconnecting the supply. .

The installer should be able to do this but sometimes the installers go missing.

Sorry Anabanet, BMS? Can I do this?

Thanks for reply

luckily I had a good installer, rang on Monday morning and Simon from Smart Home Technical was out just after 2pm. Turns out there has been one or two issues with coupled batteries not balancing properly, and in my case one switched itself off. Simon managed to get an early version of a new firmware update so should all be good now.

gordonm you need 3005 BMS firmware to get evenly balanced batteries.
I had same issue with 3002 version
It is something you can do yourself

Would he have not done when he updated it? Are there some instructions / manual I can look at?

You will need to raise a ticket with GE support to get the firmware. If you check the portal, Inverter card, on the Software page, it will show you the BMS version in play.
