Polar Ess Battery

Since the polar Ess system appears to be a repackaged Givenergy system will you eventually be able to add a polar battery to a Givenergy system?

I asked this and (at the time) the answer was no - as it runs Canbus communication to the inverter and the Givenergy ones use rs485.

If your luggage allowance is big enough you could presumably fit the Epever EP-BAT 5.2 from Greece 🤣

Surprising that they would use a different communications method than what GivEnergy already have developed, bug fixed and support. Would think keeping with the same (even if you put a lock-in to ensure only polar devices can interconnect) would be simpler and cheaper?

The Polar products are designed and manufactured by Shenzhen Baola Technology. They are entirely separate from existing GivEnergy products. They will have an entirely new set of software/firmware bugs and deficiencies.

For example the Polar inverters have 3 charge slots (whereas Giv has 1 or 10 depending ..)

The inconsistent use of capital letters suggests to me this may not be quality equipment.

Rubikcube I wouldn't go as far as entirely seperate but perhaps bought them out or licensed it or something along those lines (the Epever version of a Gen3 hybrid you can find in Greece may mean it's a variation of one of their designs in some sort of cross licensing type of agreement, or maybe thats what Giv are branded as out there?)
Their VR tour has Zero of the Polar inverters and is full of AIO inverters in various states of build which I find a bit amusing.

hoggy So the subbie gets a way into the UK market if they use the existing portal technology - is that about the size of it?

Vestas well GE wants an economy 51.2V brand (I wouldn't be surprised to only see HV storage from the GE arm) and the Polar site does go to great lengths to say it's been part of the vision. How shared / new the internals actually are, nobodies really going to know until they open one up.
As for portal, there's at least 4 companies now using the GE style one. Not a surprising development (given running it costs money, existing fleet has no ongoing subs...) so trying to get some income from it through licensing it out is probably quite useful.
