Hi, My charger is giving me the Fault 26 code, which I have read somewhere is a known issue relating to the grid being overvoltage.
I read on the forums that Givenergy are looking at a fix as they are getting 50 - 60 calls a day about this error.
Does anyone know if or when the fix will be deployed?
Every time the sun shines I am getting this error, and it is stopping me charging the car when I am producing excess solar, which I thought was the point. ie put it in the car, not the grid.
Fault 26 (Grid Overvoltage)?
If the grid voltage has been genuinely too high there is nothing Givenergy can do about it. Your area DNO is responsible for the grid voltage range. If you do not already know the grid voltage should be in the range of 216 to 253v. You can see grid voltage over time by looking at your dashboard and adding grid voltage to the power graph.
Worth checking if it is a grid fault or not and if so call your DNO they will monitor and if necessary alter the grid voltage in your area. We had a similar issue last year and got it fixed.
killythebid Having read your comments on range I decided to look at my power graph out of curiosity and noticed the grid voltage peaked on 11 April at 257.3v No errors on the dashboard so far but I'll be in touch with the DNO to get monitoring in place. Guess I'll also need to reduce cooking times on the air fryer!

An air fryer should have a thermostat, so more voltage shouldn't make much difference.
nophead Most if not all domestic electrical items have built-in tolerance and control of voltage range but this is not the issue here.
Solar MPPT and inverters are specifically designed to work within the range of the grid and out of normal they will behave very differently. This is even more so for things like EV chargers the standards for mean they will not operate above the grid norm voltage range. This is a problem for using excess solar to charge a car as when the sun is shining and there is excess solar production it is likely that the grid is at a high point in its range and potentially exceeds it.
This is exactly what was happening to us last summer the grid voltage was too high during high sun days just when I wished to put the excess into our EV via a Zappi charger. The charger was reporting high voltage and shut down. The MPPT in the hybrid inverter was also strangling supply from the panels so we were not getting or exporting all we should have been. The DNO after testing agreed and adjusted the voltage from our local transformer.
Momentary spikes in voltage are not likely to have much effect but a more sustained high or low voltage outside the normal range will.
