In the discharge settings, what do the two different settings mean? One is 'home demand' one is something like 'full discharge'. I want to set it to discharge for an hour during the peak export time but the family will be using energy during that time too so not sure which to set it to.
FennersFolk full discharge will export power to the grid at the maximum rate of your inverter. Any power the house uses during this time will be taken out of that export. E.g your inverter can output 3000w but the house is using 500w, you will export to the grid 2500w and use the rest.
Home demand means the inverter will discharge the batteries just to meet what the house is using. That's the usual setting. There is no export to the grid.
RichardBarton unfortunately not. That's what the docs say, but for modern inverters, they're wrong. See the 'confused about export' thread.
@FennersFolk In essence both of these do the same thing, they discharge the battery at max rate with what's not used by the house being exported to the grid.
The difference is what happens afterwards in terms of reverting the inverter back to Eco mode - on some older inverters. See the other thread as mentioned above
geoffreycoan it's not only afterwards: selecting timed export immediately turns off the eco flag, and so battery is effectively paused both before and after the timed period. At least on newer models, and it seems the newest firmware on gen-1 has gone this way (which means GE really ought to fix the documentation).
