Yes I have thought about joining as well, a few extra £ would always be handy.

Unlikely to be any API access so will have to manually switch predbat into read only when there is a session.

Has anyone joined and any experience of how often this is used?

As I read it, they don't/won't tell you when the scheme is active, so I am not sure how it could interact with Predbat at present. No API, nor even an email notification.

If GE flipped your system into export mode at a time of high demand/high pricing then isn't it likely that Predbat would just flip it back 5 mins later?

PianSom I just read it again and you only get a notification at the start of the month. I'd assumed it would be on the day of the "grid strain" which meant we could have reacted.

Pretty useless as it currently stands as predbat will just change any give back settings

This to me looks like these grid balancing sessions are going to be more frequent, if so then potentially there could be more competition in this respect so it could make things more interesting.

Just nudging this conversation - I'm using Predbat with Home Assistant to manage my batteries and charging/discharging (which works great, BTW). It would be great to at least have a flag set somewhere that says something like 'GivBack is active' - either in charge or discharge control - such that I could then switch Predbat into 'read only' mode while GivBack has control.

Martin L Its really going to be dependent upon Axle to provide an API as to when they are controlling the inverter.

The other alternative is you write your own automation based upon receipt of the Axle DFS saving session email. I’ve seen that done for the Octopus Power Up events so is do-able.

Or you could have a binary switch on your dashboard ‘DFS active’, change this yourself when you’ve received an Axle email, then have an automation switch Predbat into read only a period of time before the DFS event and back afterwards. Guessing how much pre-charge Axle do of your inverter is a guess of course.
