With "Fast Roaming" (IEEE 802.11r) turned off everything works fine, however with "Fast Roaming" turned on I often loose connection to my inverter after a few hours. This happens even if I turn "Mesh Technology" off for the inverter. (GivEnergy HF-A21).

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have a Netgear Orbi mesh system and Fast Roaming is on for me.

One thing I do have is 20/40 Mhz coexistence disabled. If you have that turned on, see if it makes a difference.

Yes and it'd be expected behaviour as the HF-A21 doesn't understand 802.11k/r/v. All it "sees" is that its been deauthed by the AP and when it retries then it gets refused by that AP again. It then goes into a sulk and won't reconnect to anything else.

I'd just turn 802.11k/r/v off on the 2.4GHz band were I you - unless you're dealing with commercial sized spaces where its more likely to work.

There are very few 2.4GHz clients which understand 802.11k/r/v and unless you have significant* spacial separation between APs, there's even fewer which play nicely 🙂

Definitely leave k/r/v turned on for the 5GHz band though.

*ie a lot more than you normally find on domestic premises

ZenSlo exactly the same experience. I have a Mercusys mesh wifi and have had to leave fast roaming turned off for the same reasons.

I also had difficulty getting the HF-A21’s to connect to the mesh wifi, turning off the 5GHz signal and leaving just the 2.4GHz fixed that, and once they were connected I could turn the 5GHz back on and it’s been fine for me.

TBH I find I don’t see any issues roaming with phone, tablet etc around the house with fast roaming turned off, seems to work fine
