All in One gateway and battery WiFi is useless

Has anyone found a WiFi router or extender that will work reliably with the All in One? The system was installed last December and worked reasonably well till the last firmware update to the units WiFi. Now it just works for short periods then fails to get a WiFi connection. Even though the router is only 5ft away!

If tried using Sky’s router, Amazon’s eero mesh, Tplink’s dual band extender and an unbranded cheap Amazon extender. None of them reliably work.

Has anyone got something that works?

It beats me why GivEnergy chose such a rubbish WiFi connector for a relatively new, flagship and expensive product.

Have you allocated the AIO a static I.P. Address in the router?

Jhors It may be that your wifi router being so close to the AIO is actually swamping the AIO’s receiver?

Have you turned off the 5GHz signal when trying to make a connection? The AIO (and indeed all the GivEnergy inverters) ONLY work on 2.4Hz. Newer routers will try to encourage a connection on 5GHz which the AIO can’t do, and so they fail to connect.

Turn off the 5GHz, the inverter connects on 2.,4GHz and then you can turn the 5GHz back on. And if you have options like ‘fast wifi roaming’ then turn this off as well. The wifi dongles do not work with more modern protocols

you can wire it up with an ethernet cable to LAN....

Leeshore thanks, that’s the route I took in the end and it’s now working perfectly. The WiFi module used in the gateway and battery seems to be very unreliable it had constant issues connecting and when it did it frequently dropped the connection, it really needs replacing with a more modern one.

geoffreycoan thanks, gave up with WiFi in the end and hard wired both the gateway and battery using Ethernet cabling. It’s now working perfectly. The WiFi module GivEnergy use in these devices seems very outdated and fussy about establishing and holding a connection.

Tenkaykev tried that, but unfortunately it still wasn’t reliable.
