GE EVC not working nicely with GE system as advertised

Recently installed GE EVC without the meter. Selected option D (inverter/cloud control). This messed with my home battery charge rates and i lost logs data on cloud. If i change home battery charge rates the EVC would within a minute set it right back to max charge rate. WTF. Tried phoned tech support with little effect. Had to set it to config B (dumb charger) to stop it messing with my inverter settings and logs. Anyone got any advice out there. At this time its not an issue as its financially better to charge cheap at night and export as much as posible. But should circumstances/rates change id like this solar option to be available. feel like i was sold a pup on false promises

Similar story here: I had the GE EVC installed and went for Configuration D with the Solar charge option. The first time I plugged my car in it worked as I wanted, diverting excess solar straight into the car. No impact on battery. All was wonderful.
However this was a temporary state. Most of the times I try to use it the full 7kW is imported from the grid minus any solar left over from the house load. Not the end of the world but it's a shame not to benefit from free electricity (I'm not on octopus).
My findings after a lot of mucking about, which could be just my system but might apply to others:
1) Do a factory reset and / or Change Wifi
2) Restart before plugging in the car.
2) Don't mess with any settings. Just restart. plug in and just walk away. Don't do a manual start - if you do so it'll go to 7kW. After a short while it should start slowly but for free charging the car with solar excess.
3) Be prepared for the 7kW to suddenly appear. If so, loop back to (2).

This approach appears to work most of the time. One day I shall have enough time to phone GE support.
The Tags seems to confuse the configuration so I've stopped using them.

If you don't mind me asking, which tariff are you on? And are you on a FIT / deemed export sort of arrangement ?

DD With 100Green with an export tariff (12p / kw). I don't use the car much so I just leave it plugged in and Solar is behaving much much better now. Haven't had a problem for several weeks - I think there was a portal update that fixed it. If I get solar charging of 4 or 5 kw a day then that's 20 miles a day, which is enough.
So currently I am diverting excess solar to my car, which costs me 12p/kw. But on the other hand I'm saving 30p/kw.
I'll move to Octopus in the winter I think to get the 9p/kw overnight price.
