I know there is a post about this already but it's massive. Is there a short version and an easy one to follow.

Good advice from @PianSom. The Predbat thread is quite long because it is almost a mini community discussing learning and using Predbat.

The installation and setup documentation is quite comprehensive; so whilst it is a powerful tool, it’s well explained how to get it running. And helpful people to resolve questions either here or on the Predbat Github page

First thing is to get a virtual machine setup. That was probably the most annoying part for me on a windows pc as it kept virtualising the network which meant it couldn’t see the inverter.

I used hyper-v in the end and bridged the connection.

David Drage If it's any comfort I got it fully up and running last month just watching the videos and pausing them as I went.

Probably worth watching one or two of the very latest ones now as there's a new way to install Predbat that's changed quite a bit.

Hook I run Home Assistant as a VM under Windows 10 as well, I use Oracle Virtual Box and it was pretty straight forward to follow the instructions https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/windows/

There’s doubtless Home Assistant setup tutorial videos on YouTube as well

geoffreycoan I did hyper-v, VMware then back to hyper v 😂

I was getting well annoyed until I found the bridge lan connection option. They both kept creating their own virtual network which couldn’t see my local network.

Got there in the end. But no one really mentions that part.
