PV Generation Distribution

We have a newly installed system of ASHP, 9.5 kwh GivEnergy battery + 3.6kw hybrid inverter. We do not have a smart contract with Octopus at the moment because of our FIT income.

Distribution of generation from PV is a mystery. For today, (1 July) PV generation has sent: 1.77kwh to home; 2.85kwh to the battery; 1.37kwh to the grid. The battery has 31% charge. I don't see why any generation is sent to the grid at all when the battery is not 100% charged??

Can anyone advise how do I take control.

There will always be a bit of leakage to and from the grid where the inverter doesn't respond quickly enough to changing PV and house demand.

But 1.37kWh to the grid does seem a lot.

Have a look in the inverter settings in the portal, and in particular check battery reserve is set to 4% and ALL charge limits are 100%.

It might also be worth doing a 'reset to defaults' in the portal and checking that there isn't any timed pause setup and the inverter is in Eco mode.

Is the GivEnergy system in addition to an existing FIT array or you've replaced the FIT inverter? Doesn't seem a lot of generation. If its an existing separate FIT array then the inverter should be soaking up any excess AC generation from the FIT and charging the battery from that.

Frances26 there is a limit to the rate the battery can charge. Hypothetically, if solar was 5kW for one hour, the most it could put on the battery would be 3.6kWh.
