Inverter switch off since yesterday (3rd July) and i can't get it to switch on again. Any suggestions?

GazzaGreen not much information there... What sort of inverter is it? Any lights on on any attached batteries? Are the batteries likely to have had much charge?

Presumably you've checked rcds in the CU with all the related bits and bobs.

Batteries did not charge last night, and they have 2 light on each this morning, still the same now serveral hours later so not sure if solar panels are charging it as there is not much sun, or are even running the house? I would presume not if the inverter is dead.

All lights on the inverter are ON as normal. The middle light is contant green and the arrows are all lit up blue.

When I try and restart invertor in the portal, it states that it is offline. I have tried restarting it with remote but it just states its offline again.

In software section I have tried to install the latest update, but after 2 hours this morning, it failed.

Any other info needed, please let me know?

Not sure what this means:

From your initial post, I had assumed it was powered off. But I think you're saying it's merely offline ?

When I try and restart invertor in the portal, it states that it is offline. I have tried restarting it with remote but it just states its offline again.

That's not too surprising - 'offline' means the inverter hasn't established a connection to the cloud, and so the cloud cannot send any messages to it. (The connection will always be that way round because of the way firewalls are set up.) GE probably can't do very much remotely for the same reason.

Can you tell from your smartmeter or IHD ? On my smartmeter, for example, there's an LED that flashes for import/export (faster = higher power), and is steady on if there's neglible grid activity, which indicates that the inverter is running the house.

The batteries is an interesting one... assuming that's on a timer, it should happen even if the inverter is offline. But if you rely on an external agent such as wonderwatt, they wouldn't have access to your inverter to initiate the charge.

Simplest thing is probably to power-cycle the inverter. But to be sure it's actually off, you need to isolate it from all possible power sources: grid, battery and solar. Your installer should have left you details of the shutdown/startup procedure. Or they're in the installer manuals in the knowledge base.

I'd be trying a few other things first - like whether I could ping the inverter on the local network, or connect to its web interface, which might allow you to restart just the dongle - but that depends entirely on your level of technical comfort.

Seems like the inverter has just gone offline. Maybe try rebooting your wifi router to see if it connects again. As the lights are on on the inverter and battery, it seems like they are actually working, but they've just not got a connection to the WiFi.

TimHutchings That sems to have got it, I have now successfully restarted the inverted and updated the formware 🙂

Many thanks for all help as always 🙂
