On the East facing side of our roof we have 1.82KW of panels going to one inverter. On the West we have 3.4 going to another. When we had the Givenergy battery and inverter fitted, we opted to have it on the same circuit as the 1.8KW as this avoided any taking up of carpets and floorboards. We also have an Iboost which now we have a 5.2KWH battery once the battery is full diverts excess production into the immersion. This does sometimes mean power from the East facing side of the house shows as coming from the grid on the monitoring app but otherwise has not caused any problems. Though to be fair, the monitoring system has only been working since yesterday. (Our inverter initially had a duplicate serial number resulting in the app only working on the away setting and monitoring someone else's generation! We were alerted to this by the app and monitoring from computer both showing a generation figure well above the theoretical maximum output from our panels!
Just wondering if anyone else has a second lot of panels not monitored by the givenergy inverter and what their experience is?

I’m slightly confused by your description of the setup. What is key is where the CT clamp for the GivEnergy inverter and battery is placed. I assume there is just one GivEnergy inverter and there is a non-GivEnergy inverter (on the East side)?
As long as the CT clamp is placed on the meter tails coming into your house, it’ll all work fine. Even if the other (non-GivEnergy inverter) is generating, the battery will only discharge when there is excess house load and you start importing from the grid. If you have the CT clamp in some other position within the house wiring then it might be OK, but if there is any ‘house circuits’ connected before the CT Clamp then the GivEnergy inverter and battery won’t be able to sense that load and supply current to them when needed.
If it helps, I have two GivEnergy inverters and a separate older FIT inverter. The FIT inverter is wired into the house fusebox. The two GivEnergy inverters are directly connected to the main incoming supply and the CT clamps are on the meter tails.
In terms of the app and portal, the data is rubbish. Firstly with two inverters that don’t know about each other and secondly with the FIT inverter that the GivEnergy inverters don’t know about. The system works fine but the graphs of consumption and generation are royally screwed up - I get negative and wrong figures. Today for example 18kWh of grid to home, -0.09kWh generation to home.

There are two non givenergy inverters. The givenergy inverter is on the same circuit as the inverter for the 1.82KW of panels on the East side of the house so if the battery is discharging it goes through the same wires as energy from those panels. As far as I can see, the only downside of this set up is the Givenergy monitoring software only measures the generation from the West facing side. As far as I can see the system works fine. The data as you say, does not always make sense. At times the battery is charging at a higher rate than the generation shows without drawing anything from the grid. I suspect there will be a number of anomalies that I have yet to discover. Consumption by the house I am sure is showing substantially lower than reality.

catchercradle I'm assuming yours is an AC-coupled or AIO inverter/battery.
Yes it should work but the GivEnergy inverter has no knowledge at all of the West inverter generation so it will be giving some strange figures in the app and portal.
The GivEnergy monitoring will only show solar generation from the panels that are connected in to its input (East side) but as you have spotted the inverter will soak up any excess grid power that would otherwise be exported from your West inverter.
The house consumption is not a measured figure on the GivEnergy inverters, its calculated in the inverter from:
import - export + battery discharge - battery charge + solar generation
So since the solar generation figure isn't a complete picture, the figures will be wrong.
The only way round this is to use something like Home Assistant that can measure all the different aspects of your home energy and calculate the home consumption and energy flows properly.

AFAIK the only way this happens is if your inverter is an incorrectly reconditioned one.
Basically someone's inverter broke, it was replaced and the serial number of the replacement changed to their original so that the portal keeps working and the history isn't lost. Now the broken inverter has a duplicate number, so if it is repaired and given to a new customer without a new serial number being set it will cause a clash on the portal.
You should be very concerned about the origin of your inverter.

Rubikcube Thank you . Just seen this. Especially interesting as getting com failure at the moment. Which seems a bit weird as I can send commands to the inverter via the web portal.
