Is there a way to stop my battery discharging to the grid at night like this?
Battery discharging to grid
For 2 watts??!
Wackeeracer the inverter can only react to small changes in consumption/solar - it can't predict them. Therefore there's always a small delay in adjusting charge/discharge rate, which manifests as a small amount of grid activity, like this.
Wackeeracer my system does the same when there is no solar generation.
If you are on an export tariff at least you will get paid for it!!
I have an octopus mini which shows between one to five watts being sent to the grid then the same amount being drawn from the grid about every five mins, I've been told it's the inverter checking grid voltage?
I haven't drawn any power from the grid for our home consumption since mid March apart from the small amount back and forth.
On octopus flux tariff that amounts to £1.30 a month
It's not going to break the bank but I do find it irritating because I like to think of my house as kinda like being off grid in terms of reliance from power companies.
If you have gen-1 systems, they can be a little slow to react to changes in consumption. There's talk of a "faster-response" firmware that improves this, and may cut down on these small imports.
DD I have a 3.6kW Gen 3 Hybrid Inverter + 9.5kWh Battery installed 7 months ago
