Record day
Always a good feeling to break your own record!
We were very happy the first day we drew zero power over 24hours from the grid.
Unfortunately we didn’t draw no power - the battery went flat overnight - the first time all week though. So we pulled in 1.8kwh. And exported 5kwh. As well as getting a tankful of hot water at 60’c. And some washing done.
Ooh that was bad English!
I had my system installed in December, just before the shortest day of the year. It’s been great watching the PV generation nudge that ‘best day’ bar up and up! Installing PV and the GE inverter/battery was such a good decision for me and my family.

Friend of mine has had solar for about 10years and his best ever was 26.8kwh. He has 16 south facing panels - but also a massive diy battery storage facility that can store a weeks worth of basic household consumption. (He is an electrical / computer engineer)
You could have started halfway though July, like me. August was mediocre and then things went downhill to the worst December ever, by all accounts. But this was compensated by an amazing March and April, both of which beat August 21, April by a mile. Now that the leaves are back on the trees, I think May will only be average, unfortunately... thank heavens for SolarEdge!
Even better day today! Not by much 27.2kWh up by 0.2 and still counting!
But we have only imported 1.1kWh and exported 0.8kWh.
We have also done three washing loads might be 4 a dishwasher load, cooked tea and have a full tank of hot water and battery.

Had our system installed at the end of October and today was a record day at 37.7
I'm pretty sure we'd top that but in weather like this the battery fills up so fast the inverter ends up clipping the excess 😆
MRich I had the same problem so empty the battery in the morning, then restrict the charge rate to 1 kW. As I have a hybrid inverter the 1 kW does not count towards the 5 kW inversion as its DC / DC. In this way I squeezed 38 kW out of my system today. (6kW panels and 5 kW inverter)
An issue for me is that the panels get hot so peak output drops to 5.4 kW, where I have seen 6.4 kW in the cool of March!
Top day for me yesterday too, after having the system installed for only 4 days. Managed 31.5 kWh from the solar and because I was home through the afternoon I got 14 of that into my car. That's about 56 miles of solar driving 😄 .
Unable to be grid free through as the electric shower has a higher power demand than the battery can supply.
SpokeRevolutions As much as I'd love to be grid-free it's probably not feasible without something that would fulfil the need during winter - my key measurable at the moment is the % of the electricity I use that comes from our own generation. My average in May so far is 90% and the best was yesterday at 99%. The extra bit comes from the time it takes the oven to warm up which, as with your shower, peaks a little over the capacity of the system.
Friend of mine has worked out that he would need a 20kWp array to cover his winter needs - but then would be exporting massively in the summer - and he is a fairly light user with everything bought for years with energy consumption in mind.
His inverter will do something like 6kw with a short 9kw peak (I believe I remember correctly but its that sort of order)
He currently has around 4.5kwp and often runs the summer in island mode.
It's lovely to see others like me who take great pleasure in looking at the output from our solar system.
