I have an E.ON Solar tariff that means I can buy electricity at 6.9p between 00:00 and 07:00, and export anytime at 40p.

I have my setup such that the battery will export for 4 hours leading up to midnight and then recharge at the 6.9p rate.

This seems like a good idea to me but it's such a simple way to make money that I feel like I'm missing something. Is there a downside of doing this or something I've missed?

Thanks

Sounds like a great tariff and a great way to make money. especially if you are full by sun up and export solar most of the day at 40p

Some energy companies don’t like brown energy e.g. stored in battery for later export. Scottish power I think might be one of them.

Not sure if eon is one of them.

May be worth checking the export tariff terms, but fingers crossed it’s all good.

TX200 That's useful info, thank you. I wasn't aware of that, I'll have a look

I've just had my first export payment so it seems E.ON Next is happy with this import/export process
