cant find Giv 5KW inverter IP address

I am struggling to find the IP address of my inverter. The auto discovery in britkat/giv_tcp-ma failed to find the inverter. I looked at the code and manually went through each IP : MAC to see if I could find it...but nope.
The inverter is definitely on my network - I can connect to it via the GivEnergy iphone app. :-)
Is there a command I can fire off to the different IPs to see if I get a positive response back ?
Any other ideas in trying to find the inverter IP ?

Check your Wi-Fi admin portal for a device starting HF (or similar letters) followed by your inverters serial number?

Many moons ago i did a little script that would set this all up and even walk through the IP range to find the inverter.
No idea if it still works (i have a feeling the newer dongles have a different MAC address.

.. have a feeling the newer dongles have a different MAC address - yes, seen other scripts looking for at least 3 different MAC addresses... but these too aren't present.

Maybe have a look on the router to see what clients it thinks are connected. You can probably identify some and hopefully narrow it down that way. Also if you look on the network you should see a network presented by the inverter dongle (probably starting WF and about 10 characters long). Look at the network details for that and you should see the MAC address of the inverter (I used the free WiFiAnalyzer app to see it).

So, crawled under the inverter to see if there was a serial number on the dongle. This was the name of the Wifi AP ( i thought that was the name of the neighbours Wifi ! ) ... however... seems the installers have changed the default password on it, so can't connect to it tonight... need to give them a call tomorrow to find out what they did.

purplestickmen You definitely want to find out what they changed it to - but you don't actually need to connect to the AP in order to see the MAC address - if you can find a version of WiFiAnalyzer or similar for iphone you can see it in the list of available networks, even if connected to a different network.

Found it ! Seems the MAC address now starts with 28:9C:6E for newer Inverters.

purplestickmen wifi ket is usually set to the dongle serial. As per the install guide

I always use Advanced IP scanner to find anything on my network, my inverter/dongle starts with the MAC address 34, think the new ones start with 28

nmap works best, but only for those of us with unix/linux.

TX200 I found a device called HF-A21 on the 2.4GHz WiFi Devices page of my router. I'm plugging this into Home Assistant's GivTCP. I'll edit this message if it doesn't work...

DavidBriggs HF-21 is how the GivEnergy inverter appears, and they only work on 2.4Ghz. Do set the device to static IP address on your router though
