New to this over the last few weeks. I have to say I am unimpressed with information/guidance on the basics of the different setting, what they do and what they can be changed to.
Even using this community and searching for advice, I am finding it difficult to make sense of questions and answers.
Everyone seems well into the different acronyms, but I have no idea what they stand for and/or what they actually do.
Similarly with the Ap, so much information that can be displayed, but no explanation of what to look for and how and why to tune your settings.
And again, the online videos about the Ap, all I got from them was what you can change and how to change it, but no explanation as to why you should change it!
I dont know if there is a fault with my installation, or if I have wrong settings, or if I am reading the information wrong. At present, as far as I can see, I am in Eco mode, tmy solar panels are well over what the house needs at this moment, and it is exporting the spare energy to the grid - but nothing to my battery even though it is at 38%. In fact it shows that the battery is also exporting to the grid!
Is there really no introductory guide?
Settings how to set and use them and the ap in general
DaveBs there was a new video posted yesterday on the givenergy YouTube channel describing the app. But as you say, didn't really describe all the settings. Completely skipped timed-discharge which is not really very obvious.
It did show the battery gently exporting to the grid - just said it was noise...
While it's a bit of a cliche, try turning off then on again - sometimes portal is out of sync with what's really on the inverter and that will bring them back inline. I can't immediately think what you have that would cause a small discharge going to the grid.
Could you put some numbers on the figures: how much solar generation, consumption and export, in watts?
DaveBs Have to agree with you. I've had my panels/battery set up almost two years and it feels very much like I'm working along the right lines but not necessarily maximising the potential of my set-up. Most of this has been by me testing settings on the app, discussing with a neighbour who used the same provider and making sure your battery firmware and app updates are done regularly. Battery firmware needs to be updated using the dashboard (can't do it in the app to the best of my knowledge).
The app has been failing to display all the info recently too which doesn't help!
Have you set up your export account? No-one ever mentioned it to us so we missed out on a significant portion of energy sent to the grid, not helped by our provider messing up the exchange of smart meters so figures had to be estimated.
I'll be interested to see if you get responses about a help guide as I think it really needs to go back to the basics of maximising potential, how to know whether you are saving money (and how much) and maintenance of the system.
Thank you for the replies.
I contacted GivEnergy support desk. They believe I have a problem with my battery and that it may need attention from the installer - they are discussing options. Consequently, the problem with my battery may well be part of the reason why the Ap is not making sense.
I still think an introductory guide would be a good idea.
DaveBs You mention acronyms, Ap had me puzzled for a moment 🙂
