It is certainly pretty and has the promise of future additions.
Just doing some comparisons between the portal and the app. Perhaps I need to let it settle but feels like there are anomolies to be understood.

I’ve just updated mine. First observation is, how do I tell if I’m on local data, or server?

#3 judgepd

The "home" and "away" icons at the top of the screen seem to have replaced local and server.

Some initial feedback on the app which looks really good.

  1. Love the fact I can change the charge mode and in particular the charge power level πŸ‘πŸ»
  2. The battery SOC graph seems to have a bug which means the soc level on the graph doesn't match the soc level at the top of the screen.
  3. Would still love a way to add my inverter IP manually so I can get real time stats instead of every 5 mins.
#5 GrahamShaul

Currently quite a lag between the values shown in the portal vs the data shown on the app. Easily seen in todays export value which is lower in the app than on the portal

@chrisdev I wonder if with option 3. there could be an option to specify an ip or address and then use port forwarding on your home router to get 10 second updates while away maybe?

#7 hoggy

Just press pause and resume and you get a good 60 seconds of unrestricted refresh while In away mode.

I suspect this could work although it would mean opening up a port to the outside world. It would also work when I'm at home as my router allows me to access my external IP from inside my network. First step is to allow the configuration of the inverter IP within the app πŸ™‚

Only change I can really see in the portal is the new card for the EV charger.

Pulling/Swiping down from the top does a page refresh so might pull data through quicker if you need it.

Personally for me, I would of preferred a 'dark mode' option.

I like the battery appear when you rotate the phone on the home dashboard

hoggy If only that could be opened up to non GE charger's I think that would help a lot of people πŸ˜†

#12 THALL

Ok so the EV card only works with the givenergy charger? Is there any work planned for adding non givenergy chargers? The Zappi ideally.

THALL I naively assumed that they were releasing something that worked for more than just their charger. But I guess as a first step testing this functionality with the people that have already had their chargers installed makes perfect sense. It would be great if they would expand this to more chargers in the future.

#14 hoggy

THALL I did hand all that (Ohme, Kaluza, Pod Point and so on) on a plate to them.
It has been rumoured to still be in the plan from when I asked a few weeks back. Just that theirs is the priority for dev time right now.

#15 THALL

Understandable I guess. The timeline since it was first mentioned, and mentioned on the myenergi forums seems overly long though. Kind of like waiting for a new EV order......... 😠

#17 Sam D (GivEnergy)

THALL We do have plans to integrate other EV chargers into the platform (and have structured the platform to easily allow for this), but right now they aren't taking precedence as we are focussing development time on our own charger and we require third-party chargers to have a publicly accessible, secure and well-documented API before we can begin integration.

#18 THALL

Sam D (GivEnergy) Totally understand. Its just this kind of integration was mentioned a long time ago, 8 months? And news/updates about it are rare which adds a level of frustration.

chrisdev Yes, I have sent a formal feedback bug report with screenshots

Sam D (GivEnergy) Getting local search failed. I had this issue until the latest release of the beta. On Android.

I can't login to the new app. Any suggestions?

#23 hoggy

FYI - App "Manual" here

C
#24 chrisdev

Reading the manual linked above (page 3) shows a screenshot of the preferences screen and reads "Switch between watts and kilowatts. Allowing auto discovery for local connection or allowing IP address to be added". I don't have that second option - does anyone else?

#25 hoggy

no, there's a couple of bits missing from the app compared to the manual, guessing those images are from later build that's yet to be pushed.

hi just noticed that when i went into this earlier i seemed to have switched of or paused my battery charger, I've also realised i wasn't signed up to this forum so its caught me out today and so I've been through a bit of panic today when my battery was flat and I've exported all my energy to the grid.. thought the system had fallen over but i think its the app that's caused this confusion today. it is a massive change to the norm which is normally something I'm a fan off.. but not at the risk of switching the system off .. is there a pdf manual available? also is the charger app side of the upgrade suitable for the telas v3 charger?

#27 hoggy

Garry Manual - scroll up 4 replies (or 5 if your counting this one I guess!)

chrisdev

Nope. Many need this, but its not there yet

#29 judgepd

Just a warning, I used the pause feature earlier just to try it out. Then I unpaused it but it would seem it didn't exactly work so I've just imported loads from the grid as my battery wasn't discharging. Very frustrating.

judgepd same problem, had the battery do it's SoC dump from 30% down to 0 issue this morning and luckily it's been sunny enough to charge the battery and run the house load for most of the day.

Battery not discharging under load and when I went into the web portal the eco mode setting was shown toggled off.

New app settings don't show the eco portal option just 'normal' which doesn't seem to work.

just updated app and I no longer get "home" reading updates, just stuck on "away" 5minute refresh.
Is it possible to go back to previous app or is this something that is being fixed???

C
#32 chris_p

DIG I have the same issue, hopefully it will be a quick fix like last time.

#33 judgepd

I've noticed a similar problem with the home/away updates on the new and old app. Sometimes if I open the app it doesn't matter how long I leave it, it will never switch to home but if I close the app and open it again it switches to home immediately.

Really nice App over all. I do like the Pause option - helpful if I have to do an "emergency" EV charge and don't want ot empty the battery - although arguably I probably should as the battery represents cheaper (or free) electricity

C
#35 ChrisRowe

judgepd Same here. The first time the app is opened it won’t switch to home. Close it down and reopen, and hey presto - Home!

The battery graph doesn't seem to look right when you select view one hour.

Shows 76% if you click on it and drawn at same level on scale.

Zoom out to 24 hours and it correctly shows 42% both if you click on it and on the scale.
