How to stop the battery being utilsed when we get Ocotpus Free electri

Because there is very little time to test and also because some of the scripts I have read seem very complicated. Plus I am not sure if this is suitable on a Windows PC, because the scripts all look as if they are for MAC being BASH -

I was hoping that if I reduce the battery output so it keeps 98% and then also reduce the import charge to 200w

Would the majority of the electricity be generated by the grid be input in to EV instead of the battery?

Which I don't think is very economical because it flattens the battery during the free hour - then when the hour of free electricity is over the battery requires filling up - and that costs is the standard daily rate

Orourke as Chris has said, charge the home battery from 1-2pm, get it to 100% full by 2pm.

Whilst the battery is set to charge it will not discharge, even if it reaches full during that period. Home demand will be met by the panels first, then by the grid. If you set your batteries to charge and your EV to charge then any of that energy the panels cannot provide will come from the grid.
Do keep in mind your maximum household load of course.

Use the app to manually 'Pause' the battery; Remember to restore to normal at the end of the session.

I worked out how to do this - in case anyone wants to know
1) Log in > go to My Inverter settings
2) Then> go to settings > then battery options
3) Step one - set the battery outage to minimum IE 156W
40 Step 2 - set the kept percentage to 97%
Only do this 5 mins prior to Freebie
Last step- reset from step 1)

What EV charger do you have as my Zappi can be set to ignore any solar/battery and just supply form the grid.

This sounds useful - which settings do you need on Zappi? I can't see how you would do this.

I just schedule the battery to charge during the free session. Even it is full it won't then discharge

If you’re on an overnight EV tariff of 6 or 7p and an export price of 15p, there’s no financial benefit to EVER charging your car off generated solar. The advice I have added to the predbat documentation is to set the Zappi export limit to 8000W, this is above the level of pretty much all inverters, so you will always be exporting your solar.

geoffreycoan It does not make financial sense for sure as I am on the EON EV tariff and their 16.5p export tariff but in the summer I still sometimes charge the car partially at least just because there is something very satisfying about driving the "free" sunshine miles.
