Hi,
I have solar panels and a 5.2 kilowatt battery and would like to know how I can charge it at night on cheap rate electricity.
Claudio
Charge battery at night
You need to get a tarrif which gives you a cheap rate.
You will probably also need a smart meter which works.
In my case I have an EV, and so I'm on Octopus Intelligent Go as my tarrif. This give me 11:30pm-5:30am cheap rate at 7p/kwh
I tell my inverter to charge the battery during that time.
Do you have an EV?
On the GivEnergy portal.
LHS - My Inverter
Top line - Settings
Timed Charge- Enable and put in the hours you want and submit.
Or Octopus R&D Scheduler, Wonderwatt, I belive there is an android app, Home Assistant Automations and/or HA Pre
bat
SteveCook great thanks, will try it
ClaudioNuzzo One caveat - the 'charge up to' setting may not be honoured if you reduce it from 100%. On some inverters, there are two different registers that can control the upper limit, and the portal and app seem to set the wrong one.
