I have set my battery to charge at off peak times. This has been fine but recently I have noticed that it does not appear to be charging. When I check it on the app at 8 am it could be showing 20% when it should nearly 100%, anyone else experience this?
Battery charging
If you look at the graphs to see activity earlier in the day what do you see? Is there grid import and positive battery wattage (i.e. watts going into the battery). Is there something like a heater, dehumidifier, heat pump or dishwasher draining the battery after you have charged it?
If you have a Smart Meter you should be able to see a very obvious change in half hourly usage during the time that the battery is configured to charge.
One point that is worth making is that battery firmware 3017 restricts charge speed when the batteries are cold - so you may require more time than you are used to to charge the batteries to full in the winter.
Thanks for your response. I have just checked and some graphs show 0 going to the battery, others quite small amounts.
I can check my smart meter usage when I get my next electric bill.
JanetKazlauciunas10 I can check my smart meter usage when I get my next electric bill.
If you look in the givenergy portal at your inverter data, look at the ‘meters’ view and this will show what import the inverter recorded as occurring every 5 minutes. Should give you a good idea if the battery is charging from the grid.
Thank you for your help. It looks like my battery has not been charging since the 10th of the month. Upto this date it worked fine since then no data.
Are the batteries accessible? Are there any lights on them? Is there any recent data under My Inverter -> Battery Data on the portal?
WRT smart meter data, I think most suppliers will show half hourly usage on their website/app although this probably won't appear until mid afternoon the following day. Looking back it might give you an independent indication if a significant amount of power has been imported during your specified off peak times, as you would expect for charging.
It does sound like it might be time to give support a call.
pwdst thank you I will contact support tomorrow.
