Has anyone got a giv energy 9.5kwh battery on order? I am interesting in ETA's people have been given. My installer has said early October for installation. Is that the same for everyone? I don't mind, but when I first asked about a second battery my installer said late August which has suddenly changed to early October so a jump of 6+ weeks. I only asked my installer about it 2 ish weeks ago.

I have two on order via an installer but struggling to get a clear answer. I've heard, June, July and more recently August. I ordered a full system (with PV) around 7 weeks ago. I guess I'm looking at a late September/early October installation but nothing certain yet. I'll miss out on the summer solar generation so my key focus now into get the batts in before winter and new energy price hikes. The whole industry seems to be deluged at the moment and no real clarity. Just hanging in there with fingers crossed.

What i've been doing is to goto the likes of midsummer, and putting one into a shopping basket, once its in there it tells you when they are expected to them.
So just done that and this is what comes up "156 available from 23rd Sep. 175 expected 3rd Oct"
Midsummer for the 5.2 is currently showing "64 available from 8th Jul. 175 expected 16th Aug"
ITS had a stock of 5.2 ones this week, but they have gone straight away.

We are in the same boat so to speak - have a look at givenergy Facebook page, specifically the comments on the battery availability!

I've asked for a quote and delivery estimate but haven't heard from my installer yet. If I do hear anything from him I'll let you know.

94jdh Thanks, I see the comments. Some rather shoddy response to legitimate questions I agree! Consistent communication in any business is key, particularly when there is uncertainty with supply. Let's hope we get clarity soon.

Basically, you are very unlikely to see any before the likes of midsummerwholesale.co.uk have them. The installers are all waiting upon the same couple of wholesalers. If you go to Midsummer's site and just type 'givenergy li' into their search box, it'll show you the status of all the battery types.

mrand31 Thanks for that. Unless my installer has some type of preferred purchaser status (they are quite large) then it looks like a late Sept/early Oct install for me. I guessed it would be late as I'm also waiting for a gen 2 inverter, but by then it will be a 7 month leadtime compared to the 3 months stated in their documentation. Just have to be patient although this is way longer than was indicated on the GE live chat before I ordered. It does seem supply is a bit grim whoever you select mind.

sponev Is your installer EON? I guess they might get special treatment.

Coincidentally I recently noticed the webchat option had disappeared................

THALL Not EON - I did get a quotation from them but it was £1.5k heavy.

Got a phone call a couple of minutes ago. An 8.2kWh battery will be delivered to my house tomorrow! I'm not sure where the installers/suppliers have got it from.

mrand31 There will be a post on here soon "Someone has stolen my battery from outside" 😀

I've been waiting since end of November with my installer

What gripes me the most is that I placed and order with one of the distributers in Feb and it's now available. When I brought this up with the installer I got a bit of a brush off.

the latest from my installer in their words "still hopeful for June, but potentially July"

Basically no one seems to know and when they don't get them in the current month they just push it out another month, doesn't feel like I'll get one this year! for reference we ordered our solar December 2021 and had it installed at the end of January.

scrap that, just had an email to say our battery is in and they want to install it next week!

Ordered the 8.2 at the beginning of the year, which should have been in stock finally last week, but still not heard.
I am hoping the 9.5 turns up by mistake, or free upgrade ;-)

Haven't had the battery turn up even though I was told to be in all day. I'm not sure if the installers are shipping it or it's being shipped direct from Midsummer. Tracking info might have been useful.!

I ordered 2 x 8.2s beginning of Feb. Still no advice on when they will be delivered, although I spoke to someone at Givenergy a few weeks ago who advised that all orders for 8.2 batteries will be fulfilled by mid-June. Keeping fingers crossed!

My battery arrived this morning from Midsummer. I've moved it with a sack barrow into the workshop where it's going to live. Next step is installation/commisioning. 😀

After expecting the battery to be installed on thursday, got a call this morning to say they were in the area and have been and installed! So glad we finally have it, now onto obsessing about how much energy we use from the grid 😄

I've been told my 9.5kw battery will not be installed until late October now. The extra solar panels I ordered that were meant to go up last Thursday have been delayed until September as well. I wont even mention the EV delay. Tough going green!

When did you place your order?

#24 THALL

94jdh For which project? :-)

I ordered a 9.5kwh battery just over a month ago.

How many projects have you got going!! Thanks for the info.

Project 1 - 3kw additional solar panels to give me 10kw total. 500watt panels are like gold dust and out of stock everywhere. Was meant to go up June 2nd, now has no ETA.

Project 2 - second GE battery. Ordered the 9.5 to go with my 8.2. Ordered just over a month ago, estimate was July install. New estimate October.

Project 3 - EV order. Was due May 30th, now has no ETA at all.

Very hard to get anything solar or battery related at the moment.

THALL Similar feedback. Whilst I had some useful technical feedback from GE today which has allowed me to finalise my panel design, they completely ignored (twice) my requests regarding ETA for the gen 2 inverters and 9.5 batteries. My installer is also unwilling to comment it seems. So I'm figuring October earliest. The gear was ordered around 5 or 6 weeks ago.

sponev current dates from distributor are towards end of July for the 9.5 batteries and mid August for the Gen 2 5.0 inverters, but as well all know by now that until shipment is confirmed there is no guarantee.

S
#29 sponev

makse Cheers. I'll send a periodic request for updates to my installer but other than that, forget about it for the next few months. At least I've finalised the design and the DNO submission can go ahead but other than that, it's a waiting game now. Frankly I should have acted six months ago but lesson learned.

#30 THALL

makse I was also told July for the 9.5 battery, but my installer recently said getting any of that batch is unlikely and to expect late September/October now. I am still hoping for July however.....

M
#31 makse

THALL I have one ordered with an expected date of the 15th July, also a 8.2 with an expected date of the 30th June.
Time will tell if it ends up being correct.

D
#32 DeanoC75

Looks like it's mid august for the 8.2kw, Late Sept/Oct for the new 9.5kw, and Aug/Sept for the 2.6 & 5.2kw variants.

#33 THALL

DeanoC75 There is not meant to be anymore 8.2's though? The 9.5 is its replacement.

Is it for those that made an order for the 8.2kW before the cut off date?

Yeah i know, but there will still be a lot of people who are awaiting the 8.2's

DeanoC75 Exactly, according to my installer, I will be getting my 8.2 next week. I was offered to upgrade to 9.5 with a delivery date around 10 July.

#38 THALL

Update on my battery order. My installer is expecting the battery September 26th with install that week. So thats good, a whole 4 weeks earlier than their first estimate. They have even found me some 495w panels so win win at the moment.
