Battery discharge

Why do I sometimes see a discharge from my battery to the grid in the early hours of the morning?
I am on Octopus Intelligent flux and generally don't bother looking at the energy graph but just checking over the last few days I can see discharges to the grid early morning (Today it was 4kW over 20 mins at 02:00 but this varies)
I was under the impression that Octopus discharge from my battery between the hrs 16:00 to 19:00 hrs and that nothing would be required from my battery at other times.

They can do what they want. You've given them control.

They say they will normally charge when electric is cheap and discharge when electricity prices are high. Is that the cost to them or you? It doesn't say!

In times of demand they may discharge during the off peak.

Cully as TX2000 says, it’s up to Octopus as to when they want to use your battery.

You might want to reconsider staying on OIF for the winter. It’s a good tariff in the summer when you’ve lots of solar generation but your import cost on OIF is comparatively expensive. Flux or old Economy 7 might be much more beneficial to you although you’d need to setup your own charge period overnight
