Forgive me if this has already been covered I haven't been able to find the exact issue in the discussions and am new to Giv Energy.

The app gives balanced readings for demand/charging/generation but the portal seems to have a consistent error with demand approx 70W. This is shown in the dashboard, meters and my inverter graph.

Our installers said don't compare the portal and app as the app is more frequently updated but even with a steady situation the error still appears in the portal?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dtpascoe Hi, welcome to the forum. I'm happy to try to help, but I'm lazy - you've posted a table of numbers, but could you spell out exactly where the 70W discprepency is showing up.

As your installer says, these are 5-minute snapshots of power.

Oh, it's possible that it's the inverter's own consumption that you're (not) seeing... The app has a fudge factor to make the numbers balance. Oh - that's annoying - for some reason won't start up on my phone right now. Hmm... anyway, somewhere on there, there's a setting to 'show calculated load' which is basically a fudge to make the numbers add to zero. Probably defaults to 'on', but I keep that turned off. The discrepency is probably the inverter overheads.

If you use android, you could install https://givenergymonitor.wixsite.com/tutorials - that breaks out a separate category 'inverter' showing the inverter overhead, and on my system right now it's 100W.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Line one Solar generation 542W = Battery Power -376W+ Demand Power 93W
376W + 93W = 469W
542W-469 = 73W

I was assuming this was possibly showing inverter losses.

'Show Calculated Load' can be disabled from the app home dashboard settings as you say which then makes the app figures similarly imbalanced and explains what I am seeing.

Thanks again.

GivMaths.....everything is a fudge factor. It even calculates Home demand so you would think it might add up. As DD said its snapshots and clearly not all at the same exact moment so dont let it grind you down.
