Just a word of warning, it looks like the latest app update removes the 'deeper dive' portion of the battery section. So if you use that regularly to keep an eye on multiple packs and their voltages etc I'd hold off updating or switch to a 3rd party app/Home Assistant.

Shame to loose this info, at least you could see how balanced multiple batteries were. Temperature monitoring also useful with outdoor batteries (at least the BBC basic app still shows this)
Also local monitoring seems to no longer search for “home” mode and requires a manual press of the home tab. Even then the 10 sec refresh is quite intermittent.

the release notes read:
"Removed duplicate misleading information in the battery section"
Apparently it was deemed duplication for single battery systems and misleading for multiple battery systems.

Also, does everyone on iOS have the same problem when viewing in landscape?

dragos.balaban Same on Android -- been that way for ages. I thought that someone at GE would notice and correct it (used to be fine)... but no.
I swear GivEnergy's services - the app and the tech support, are getting worse, not better. Can't phone them for help now, can't see important info in the app any more if you dare update it. [Thanks for the warning - I haven't updated the app on my phone.] You'd think that Giv would want to keep the goodwill of their customers, not lose it like this. I'm dreading the next time I need to figure out how to contact them for help. 'Online chat'? Erm, no.
I've got to the point where I'll not recommend GivEnergy kit any more, because it now looks like Giv aren't interested in aftermarket care (1), or helping customers make best use of their kit (2), or even having an app that works properly (3).
Removing the customer telephone helpline? Wrong thing to do.
I have a Gen 2 hybrid inverter and am on the Octopus Flux tariff. I have to pay a separate service, WonderWatt, to control the inverter, because the controls in the app and on the online portal are inadequate.
The GivEnergy phone app. Need I say more? We all know the GivEnergy app has issues, which is why a lot of us resort to using the BBC chap's Inverter app instead.
Thanks but too late. Looks like mine updated all by itself last night. I looked to see if there was a way to not update it but couldn’t see “auto update” anywhere (to turn off) (iOS).
This is such a backwards step. I can’t even see individual batteries or their SOC now in the app. Thats pretty basic stuff that’s gone. Really annoyed, as I was monitoring one of my batteries that seemed a bit weak (since install).
Not happy 🦁

Although I make no assertion on the safety of these, should you wish you can pull the older versions APK files and install them on android devices from places like APKpure or similar.

Pretty obvious why they have done it.
Really annoying though because one of my pairs of batteries has about 15% SOC difference and while it charged/ discharged it was 6c hotter than the other one (whereas the new replacements only have about 10% difference and 3-4c difference under load!).
I am getting the correct capacity in and out (only just though on one pair). Feels like removing the data is hiding a problem rather than addressing it.
App feedback sent (suggest we all do this), although not sure if anyone actually looks at it or actions it.

I have submitted app feedback 18 months ago and they still sit there with no updates or responses from GivEnergy. A black hole of being ignored; wouldn’t hold your breath
It’s a pity there are some good things like this customer feedback forum but even here GivEnergy contributions are very limited. Do feel they are just not focussing on us enough

What a pain, noticed the App wasn't showing me both batteries now or updating to "home".
Fiddled for a while, came here to check and hey ho.
So @Givenergy how do we now check multi battery systems?
Why do we now have to do a manual search when we are "home"?
#13Watcher
Clicking between ‘home’ and ‘away’ seems to have no effect, stuck on away so no 10 second updates. Anyone else got this, or better - a solution?
Thanks.

Watcher Try rebooting your router. Wait 2 mins for the router to finish restarting. Then restart the app.

The toggle option for “Calculated load” also seems to have disappeared.
It would appear that they have reversed the removal of battery data by popular demand in 3.4.4:

My App has lost the second battery info.
I can see the message that Hoggy posted in the 'What's New' section of the app saying that 'In this release' the second battery info has been restored....but it hasn't! The bottom of my app menu page shows that it's V3.4.3.5598.
Anyone know how I can get my second battery data back? Delete the app and re-install?

Wait, they removed calculated load toggle before, why? LOL

hoggy the “we’ve listened to your feedback” makes you think that someone from GivEnergy is reading these posts and responding with changes to the product. If that is the case then brilliant, but maybe some more two way communication - responding to posts here and even (horrors) making suggestions as to what future enhancements will be before making them and saving a load of time and customer ‘feedback’
Not trying to teach GivEnergy developers how to develop but there is a lot of good thinking in software development now as to customer-centric agile delivery. Having someone who acts as the ‘voice of the customer’ to steer the development and delivers features in the priority order that customers want. Key to this is communication …

The announcement is of new features in v3.4.4. You are on the previous version. Either force an upgrade of the app from the app store/play store or delete and reinstall it.

I have updated my Google play review from 1 star

dragos.balaban I do not entirely agree with removing the function it would have been better to fix it but it was wonky in my experience. The top-level battery SOC % never agreed with the multiple battery view in terms of the average of the two (in my case) and not just by a little it was usually a significant difference. So not that useful.

Thank-you to GivEnergy for listening and replacing the removed battery voltage information so quickly.
B
#26Beebod
killythebid It does need improving for sure, especially in relation to what the 'system' reported capacity is vs the actual capacity of both packs - even when both packs are at similar capacity the system often reports much less capacity available, particularly at the lower charge levels. However, despite the often anomalies between pack capacities it does still have value in being able to see any large disparities or a problem with one pack not functioning as expected and the temperature / voltages can be useful in that respect. There is no other way to view that data (that I can find) in the desktop version so it would require another piece of 3rd party software. Fingers crossed for some improvements in this area soon!

Beebod I do not find my system operates much like you decribe. I am not sure which is "accurate" either.
Presently the overall value is saying 100% but the individual values are 96% and 94% the temps do not agree either.
The other day when the batteries got to 4% (according to the overall state) just before the overnight charging was due to kick in the individual states were showing 15% each or thereabouts. Depending on the day and battery state (who knows what else) one can show more than the other or less it is far from consistent.
I do not see either status as having much value and not for battery health. I would rather use (as I do) use an app that shows me cell voltages and soc% for that like the "Inverter Monitor App"
B
#28Beebod
killythebid I know what you mean! Out of interest, when your system says capacity is at 4% but the batteries show approx 15% each, what does the 'Inverter Monitor App' think the status is?

Somewhere in the last few IOS App updates (and definitely with the latest version) the Home function has just stopped working. Just stays on Away and never switches to Home. You can manually select Home but then it immediately stops updating and after a short interval it just displays ??? marks.
Thought it might have been upgrading to IOS 18 but Ive turned off all of the Wifi upgrades (like MAC no cycling). Also tried it on my wifes old phone running IOS 15.8 and its exactly the same.
So Im afraid that the Apps just broken for us now and updates so slowly as to be almost useless.
Hope somebody from the App development team is reading this. I have reported it using the App Feedback facility.

Just checked mine. I have to manually select " Home " but once selected the refresh is every 10 seconds. ( ios 18.2 )
