All In One switch during grid outage

Since having an All-In-One, we've had a few short (<20 min) power cuts and each time I've been very happy with the overall performance of the AIO. The only thing that I'd like to stop is the fact that my WiFi router and a few other devices restart each time as power is momentarily lost during a power cut. Short of buying a small UPS just for the router which seems overkill just for it to survive less than a second are there any other options a non-electrician like me could look at?

Some cheaper power supplies don’t have much in the way of capacitance to ride out brief cuts.

Perhaps worth looking at a quality PSU or yes a little 12v ups.

I’d be amazed if I the AIO can’t hold it up as the pw2 and they’re very similar .

I can report that during a power outage there is a momentary loss of power to the house (led lights flick off/on and WiFi router restarts plus some other devices). I recall seeing a lot of explanations of why this happens with the AIO on this forum but it's all electrickery to me :-)

pw2 = PowerWall 2, got it.

Joe88 I got my Virgin Media Superhub connected to a Cyberpower UPS and it still restarted despite TWO PC's being absolutely fine.

Even my dads PC which isn't connected to a UPS went off on our first cut so far with teh system.

I bought a tiny ups specifically for the fibre ont and I had an ups anyway for my network kit.

We’ve had a power cut twice and I didn’t even notice until the neighbours mentioned it.

I went down the UPS route simply because before getting my AIO, I already had 3x UPSs (one each for mine and my wife's computers - we both WFH; plus another for the router, switch etc). I added a fourth for the TV, set-top box and sound bar.

So far it all works as expected

Yeah it was funny, a few weeks ago they were doing some work to the substation up the road so sent a note to everyone saying the power would be off all day….everyone wasn’t happy, but we were sat here perfectly happy!

For anyone who's interested, Givenergy claim to have resolved this for me today. I'll find out one day (I know you can do a test of power failure but don't like to tinker too much)

I went down the mini USB UPS route.

Small UPS that acts as a PSU so much smaller battery onboard and only powers my wifi and mesh directly but does last a few hours so easily covers the cut over.

I would still keep it if they have a way to make UPS mode work, there are times someone in the house will accidentally switch the plug off and it saves that 5 min boot up on the fibre box.

I can recommend the Konnected UPS at £38 from Amazon. I bought an earlier model GM320 6 years ago and used one on my router and one on my battery base station. One failed safe about 4 years ago. The are power pass through models in the failure case it was the battery pack that failed. The other continues to work.

In all I use 3, router, camera, and alarm system.
