connecting a non givenergy EV charger to the Givenergy Gateway

I have an ohme home pro EV charger and a Givenergy AIO install with the gateway. I can see that there is space for a separate breaker/meter for an EV charger and I wanted to know if I can wire my ohme home pro into this space and tell the gateway to only pull from the grid to serve this load?

I have looked at the FAQ's, installation manuals and searched the internet but I can't see examples of connecting off-brand EV chargers to the gateway. The reason behind this is that, with the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff, my car will charge whenever it likes during the day and Octopus will do so at the overnight tariff price. Right now, when the EV charges, it will be taken from the battery, which isn't ideal.

AdamD Hi, I was just searching for the same info as you as I don't want my EV charger (zappi) pulling juice out of the battery. Like you I'm on IOG and it's a pain to keep juggling charge slots when they decide. Did you get any answers?

Ultima357 I'm no electrician, but I understand that to prevent the battery being used to charge the car, the Zappi should have its own power supply and the CT clamp should be on it's own power supply and not the house supply as per the diagram below. There's a Zappi Forum on Facebook.

TimHutchings Hi, thanks for the note. I know I could possibly do it that way but I'm very tight for room and having the EV connection sitting there in the gateway is by far the most elegant solution if it works. The regs are quite tight on meter tail length these days and I'm already probably outside them as they come into the CU, then via switch go out to the gateway installed underneath the CU and then return to yet another switch in the CU. Makes my CU pretty much full, even thought it feeds three other CUs for most of the house circuits. Currently my EV charger is fed from one of the remote CUs so I have to run another circuit in to the charger as I can't get to the current cable route.

if you add a "harvey" or is it "harvi" you can use 3 ct clamps. i have that on my "eddi" so it knows when a discharge is happening on the batteries and wont do it. clearly only possible with external battery set up like ac3 inverters.

positor1 Unfortunately with Octopus Intelligent Go, they control the zappi, so any other intervention is not possible without things fighting each other.
