We had a new wifi router installed, about a week ago, system has been offline for 6 days, is this the reason?

Hi yes unfortunately it sounds like it is.
I got that fed up with it I connected mine up by Lan sorry.
I'm sure someone can clearly explain how to reconnect.
You can try setting the new router to the same name and password as the old one.

Gina There was a video on the youtube channel recently about it.

Unfortunately, it's something that's much more straightforward if you can do a little preparation in advance - making sure that you know how to get into the inverter's wifi AP to reconfigure it.

Gina If you have the GivEnergy app then there is now an option to update WiFi Details. I have not tried this. It can be found from the Home Dashboard screen. Press the three lines in the top left corner. Then select settings. This gives you the option to either Update Wifi Details or Setup Wifi Dongle. If you select Update Wifi Details it will prompt you to download the Givinstaller app and gives instructions on how to get started.

Usually the reason this happens is because the new router has a different SSID (wifi name) and password. The GE kit will still have the details of the previous router.
The quickest way I think would be to change the details on the new router to match the previous one (i.e. SSID and wifi password).
You may find that this doesn't work, in which case check to make sure you have the 2.4GZ frequency switched on.
If you do already have that switched on, then you may need to disable the 5GZ frequency until the kit reconnects before switching back on (I say this from reading other posts on the forum - I use a mesh network so changing routers isn't "a thing" for me!)
Good luck

Yes, this is the quickest and best way.

If you have used the original utility router to generate IP addresses (DHCP), your inverter should have the same IP address.
You should be able to find this using the GE app.

  1. Select the 3 bars on top left.
  2. Select 'Settings'
  3. Select 'Local monitoring'
  4. Select 'Scan for you inverter.
  5. If an IP address shows up, I think there is a globe that you click on which would add the IP address below.

You may have to go into the Dongle set up.
First look at the dongle.

  • If it is connected, you should see a solid blue light.
  • If you see a flashing blue light, the dongle is trying to connect.

If the light is flashing, you may need to connect to the Dingle's own local wi-fi for setting up.
Givenergy have instructions here:

It looks scary but is fine if you follow the instructions to the letter.

Rbor Dingle

I like the spelling mistake. That's the name I'll give to it on the DHCP server 😃

CW Given the number of devices and smart sockets I have together with powerline adapters I change the router settings as the easiest option.

Roy124 Agreed - although as I said in my post, because I have a mesh network which has it's own wifi names and passwords (secure and guest) changing the router doesn't affect me as the first mesh network device is plugged into the router
