I have just changed over from Basic Flux to Intelegent Flux.
i am a bit concerned that i may have made a mistake, because i was told that i would
get 5.4p per kilowatt hour between 02:00hrs and 05:00hrs to charge my batteries.
I know now that i will get 21.45p per killowatt hour to charge my batteries.
Does this seem right to you people out there.
I think i could have benifited from staying on basic Flux.
Thank you for any thoughts on this.
Cheers

Maz I was told that i would
get 5.4p per kilowatt hour between 02:00hrs and 05:00hrs to charge my batteries.
Told by whom ? The only number close to 5p I see is the off-peak export rate on basic Flux.
I know now that i will get 21.45p per killowatt hour to charge my batteries.
Yeah... but on IF you pay a lower import rate during both daytime and peak. And you get paid more for export both daytime and peak.
But more importantly, on IF you don't get to decide to charge your batteries. (Best not to think of them as your batteries, really... - you've traded them for the virtual battery that is the grid.)
Does this seem right to you people out there.
They're different tariffs. You pick the one that better suits your situation. Some people like that Octopus take care of battery management; others resent Octopus not doing exactly what they could do better themselves.
Brilliant reply
Thank you D
Now might not be the time to join Intelligent flux - as it's not very sunny.
A lot of people move off the tariffs for the winter - going to normal flux or go (if EV owner) or intelligent go (if compatible EV or compatible charger) or agile or even economy 7
You need to export more than you import for the intelligent flux tariff to be worth it. And as per Tim and Kat on YouTube, you probably need a consumption to generation ratio of around 1.4 or bigger. That is you generate at least 1.4 times your consumption.
It is a good tariff for the ease, you can sit there and let Octopus do it's thing. And it is good having a 21 hour off peak tariff, no worries about running the dishwasher and washing machine in the middle of the night, but pricing wise there may be a better option this time of year unless you have a massive amount of solar panels.

Very interesting, i think you,ve raised a good point.
Where do i find accurate info as to the amount i import and export.
Cheers
You can see that in the octopus app and or GE portal
