Battery not charging at full rate

I’ve noticed that my battery is not charging at the full 2.67kw (or similar) reliably, often charging at 1.7kw, then occasionally bumping up to 2.67kw.

It’s not linked to time, not sure how I can see if charge rate is being limited by temperature (but it was showing as c.21c at the weekend and still charging at the slower rate)

I’ve reset the battery settings on the inverter, still the same issue.

Does anyone know what else I could look at?

There is a temperature reading for the BMS (battery management), and separate reading(s) for the battery cells.
I think the official app tends to show the BMS, which is typically higher than the cells.

If you have Android, the free 3rd-party app can show all the temperatures

For iOS, there's a BBC Basic app, but I don't think that does show the temperatures.

I am on 3018 on a 9.5 G2 battery. I asked what the "spec" was for derating and was told :
The discharge will not be affected just the charge rate.
Between 10-20 its 60%
Between 1-10 its 50%
less than 1 it no charge
will discharge upto -10
The temperature is the average of the entire battery. (So I assume that is the 4 cell monitors only, NOT the BMS)

OK, I am confused. I get the Octopus Go 5 hrs of low rate between 0030-0530. Last night my battery charges at about 1.7Kw/hr - why? The settings are for a charge rate of 3kw/hr. Why is it selecting the lower rate?

Yes this winter my battery in my garage only charges at 1.7kW until it gets to 20C, which it never does charging at that low rate. I think the behaviour changed from last year with a firmware update in April.

Phew! I thought I was going nuts. My batteries (x2) are not charging overnight in the way they used to: now (october to december 2024) the charge rate is c.2kw across the whole Octopus low tarrif window (00:30 - 07:30) and I limited the charge to c.80%. However, I've only just learned that the 80% is the average of the two charged capacities,; so bat-1 is 100% and bat-2 is 60%. I'm not too happy with this as, previously, the battery charging was equally balanced. Unless, of course, there is a fault??

DD didn't understand he was referring to temperature. the "10-20" didn't say degrees celcius or "c" would have helped. I get it now.
