Intermittent battery pause/charge at 5-6pm

My battery keeps pausing and/or slowly charging at 5pm (during peak time!) for an hour. It doesn’t happen all the time, and I’ve tried to reset the inverter, updated firmware and manually toggled charging settings to push out any incorrect settings. The battery always has enough charge.

It happens probably one day in 4, but sometimes consecutive days or not for several.

Any ideas lovely forum people?

HY5.0 and 9.4kw battery.

Is there a correlation with battery SoC? On my system, if you have a discharge slot with a discharge limit, and the battery is below that limit, it will charge up to it.

DD Also it looks like the battery is being charged at about 300W during that period which usually indicates that either the battery is empty or there's an issue with one or more cells.

Seems unlikely it'd happen same time of day though so I dunno.

Vestas though it continues to discharge for the rest of the day - much more than it took in. And seems able to charge overnight at 3kW+

DD It could be that its paused - ie Eco (paused) mode rather than the newer battery pause options. Having said that it wouldn't be charging but discharging at 290W....

Maybe someone else has a clue, I don't 🙂

As an experiment, I tried setting discharge limit to 60 (Soc is 50). Sure enough, battery was charging at 278W, so that does seem to be the behaviour.

DD Mystery solved then. Why it only charges at a little under 300W is another question but I doubt we'll ever get a definitive answer for that, probably shares the same code as the emergency charge/discharge routine would be my guess.

Well done chaps.

So this was set and turned off - but the battery effectively paused below this level.

I’m so angry that GE keep pushing these updates that don’t work properly. I wish I’d installed another company’s equipment.

It worries me that we will see GE collapse and be left without any service at all - they need to sort their act out.

It's arguably a useful feature - for those with a peak rate at 4pm, you can use this to stop the battery going below, say, 30% before 4pm, but allow the battery to discharge normally while it's above that.

But yes, I agree, it would be nice if they could actually document how the thing behaves - we have no idea if this is a bug will that will get fixed in next release, or a feature we can rely on.
