I am aware there has been much discussion about differences in charge levels between batteries, and I also know that GE are supposed to be working on it but I have 40% and 19%. Latest firmware and recal done 3 days ago. So what is and is not acceptable?. Also can't nhet the add image button to work on the app otherwise I would have added thd screenshot. Any thoughts?
Huge difference in charge levels
I’m still seeing that behaviour; up to 20% split on one pair of my 9.5 batteries. The other pair is generally much better. (Usually within 10% of each other). It’s always the primary that appears to “lead”.
As that pair gets towards the lower end when discharging (below 20-25% remaining) the secondary battery (usually with the much higher percentage. Starts to catch up; the BMS temp increases to above the primary’s and the split between the two slowly starts to decrease but usually it’s still about 10% or more higher indicated SOC at “empty”, so that I’ll see 2% (or less) on the primary and 15% or so on the secondary.
I’m still convinced that it’s this one primary battery that isn’t performing correctly as the other 3 do and there is something not quite right with it (since install). But GE won’t have it and say it’s “OK”.
To be fair, I have been able (for only the last few months) to just about get 19kWh in and out of that pair so I do (finally) have use of full capacity (just). So I guess that counts as working “ok”. Install was July 2023. 14 months of complaints, and 4 replacement batteries to get to this stage.
If you can get the full capacity in and out I’d just accept that the SOC numbers will never match. If you can’t then I’d go through customer support (this will be a long, painful process though and may or may not fully rectify the issue as is the case for one of my battery pairs).

Well at least I'm not the only one. I used to have home assist running on PI but since I went to IOF I turned it off. There didn't seem a lot of point in keeping it going. I'm trying to get it running again (without success at the moment) because it tells me the individual cell voltages. I'm trying to find our if all the cells are ok. It's a fair point you make about capacity. I must test that in due course. I'll keep you informed. Thanks for your reply
Richard14 You don't need the full blown home assistant to get that... I think givtcp can run without home assistant, or you can just use the standalone modbus python library. Or the android monitor app.
The weird thing is, that HA is running perfectly with Givtcp. It shows my batteries, inverter, the lot, but all values come up as "unkown", and I can't work out why. HA is showing my hive system which is working perfectly
Finally got HA to run, and I can confirm that I haven't got any dud cells. Interesting enough the battery that was low is now the high one. If the batteries are in idle and pretty much ful the high one gradually reduces it charge to try and match the low one (which it never achieves). I don't belive it is actually discharging at all because the voltage is pretty much constant.
Well things have changed. In the last few days, the spread between the batteries is always less than 10% and normally only 5%. I looked at the battery firmware release and it's 3068. I didn't take a note of what it was previously but I'm wondering if my complaints to GE have resulted in a battery firmware update. I have no notifications that this has been done. What battery firmware are other people on ?
