During this season of storms and power outages it would have been extremely convenient if the battery would take over when there is a power cut.

Pyjamb Did you pay for that? It requires (at a minimum) an earth spike outside your house and ideally another consumer unit for backup circuits.
We’ve certainly got an earth spike. I’ll speak to the installers about the consumer unit. I expect not. I will return….
Pyjamb Probably best to talk to them anyway. If you have an earth spike which they installed then you should have backup power for the circuits you chose prior to install.
Pyjamb Depends what inverter and battery system you have. The AIO’s can do “whole house” backup, the older inverters can provide backup power but usually only for certain circuits as the power output is limited to 2.6 or 3.6kWh depending on your inverter model.
This would have been something your installer would have discussed with you. Its still possible to fit it retrospectively as the inverters all have emergency power supply capabilities, but it might need some electrical work doing for which they’ll doubtless charge
geoffreycoan sadly we bought our system through a supplier so no discussion whatever. To provide a power backup, when I asked, was ££££. Then they went belly up.
I was fortunate that my system was installed and working, others less so.
