Portal and PV Meter don't tally and use seems high?

Hi all, newbie PV and battery user. Installation was completed on Friday and still having a few teething issues, but the one thing that I've noticed is that today for example the portal said we had generated 6KWh of PV but the PV meter next to the inverter works out at 5.25KWh (I've been recording the total each day at 8pm). Is this an issue with the data from the inverter?

Also I'm noting my meter readings each day around the same time and we normally use 7-8KWh about this time of year per day and the meter is showing about 6KWh of use per day. If we are generating at least 5KWh per day, why is the meter not showing a smaller amount of usage? We have an 8.2KWh battery which the portal says is charging and discharging when expected.

chris_p I expect only support can sort this one out. It could be the placement of the CT clamps however.

Is it possible that on the day you have checked the meters your house used a total of 11.25kw? On the beta dashboard energy chart what does that show for the whole days usage?

THALL Thanks for replying. It could be possible, as I said there are a few teething issues that the installer is working through so I may be being a bit eager to check meter values etc. The clamp for monitoring the draw from the grid wasn't in the correct place I was told yesterday so I may need to give it another day or two of "normal" running before I query anything with support. Thanks again for replying, this community looks a great one to be part of.

chris_p I have found using clamps I have to allow 5 - 7% discrepancy in the readings. The only reliable reading is the smart meter display.

I've had days where the smart meter and GivEnergy report match exactly and others where they don't.

I suspect it might be an odd data drop from my inverter to the GivEnergy server causing the discrepancy.

I found an instruction manual via uncle google on the EM115 just to clear up the readouts. I've checked them against the Givenergy ones on the energy chart card, and they seem to tally together roughly, I'm guessing there is a data link to the inverter. Though I cant figure out why the real time readout shows 50w active power, then 2A at 242v ๐Ÿ˜• , I suppose someone clever who understands how power factor works will chime in and say this is probably what is confusing the meter, or is it simply the real time data is changing so quickly between the screen cycles?

Salibaba the EM115 is used for the load balancing aspect of the inverter as I understand it. There is a direct cable connection (ethernet cat 5 or cat 6) from the EM115 to the underside of the inverter in most installs or I think a LORA module is used of it's too far or impractical for a cable run as its wireless.

๐Ÿ˜… oh yea, it doesn't read real time consumption by magic, like wireless comms with the meter. ๐Ÿคจ That would be crazy wouldn't it. (and yes I know rife with security concerns regarding supplys having access to real time interaction / monitoring exposed outside of the SMETS network)

@Salibaba I think most of us are chasing the 'one app to rule them all' that'll control all the various devices we have connected, ie batteries, car chargers, ASHP, hot water diverters etc whilst automatically factoring in PV forecasting and smart tariffs whilst adjusting for historical real world PV performance vs forecast.

Metering is just another aspect of that - my new smart meter is a little pointless despite being supplied by Octopus as it doesn't see the Go tariff values at all.

yea, the IHD does nothing to show off the full glory of the likes of Agile. Go should have been relatively easy as it is only 1 tariff change. I can't imagine the unit would have the capability to record the data even for 1 full day of price changes and 48 tariff slots per day. The innovation of Octopus making use of the meter reads sent constantly and just billing accordingly.
I agree about chasing the universal app. It may well end up being something such as home assistant integration such as google or alexa to pull everything into one place. A bit like apple have been trying to do with the homekit app.
