Morning. I've just had my solar solution installed and I'm trying to understand stuff. Watching my Dashboard it appears that any excess solar energy is being exported to the grid (although I haven't got an export tariff yet) and not to my battery. It appears the battery is only charged from the grid.
What settings do I need to redirect the solar excess power to my battery.
Many thanks
Solar not charging battery
Are you looking on the phone app, or on the GvEnergy portal page (presume your installer set it up and gave you a login).
You really want the inverter to be in Eco mode (described as being "minimize grid import")

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking at the GvEnergy portal. My inverter is in ECO mode.
RacingSnake on the app, you will always see a small amount of to-and-fro on the grid - a few watts is nothing to worry about. And the animation sometimes gives the impression the battery is exporting to the grid, for example, when it's just these transients.
But if there's plenty of space in the battery, yet no solar is going into it, something may be wrong
What sort of system is it - hybrid, or ac-coupled ?
It is AC Coupled. One thing I forgot to mention was that when the battery was being charged from the grid (a 1 hour period) I then saw the solar power ALSO going to the battery. But now we are outside that 1 hour charging period, the battery icon is grey and no solar power is going to it. mmm Does the TIMED CHARGE effect both from grid and from solar?

RacingSnake The timed charge will charge your battery from the grid and any solar being generated as well.
Outside of the timed charge period, as long as your inverter is set to Eco mode it should charge from solar, assuming you are generating more solar energy than your house is drawing. Only when the battery is full will it be exported.
As mentioned though what you see in the dashboard is a 5 minute snapshot so it may be a transient figure. If however you see it constantly exporting then best to get your installer back, they should have walked you through the setup and how it works and made sure you were happy with it
Thank you all for your input. I'm going back to my installer
