Hopefully someone can help me.

We’ve had some electrical work in the house and had to take our system offline. We have a GivEnergy inverter and two 5.2kwh batteries.

I have brought the inverter back online but the batteries won’t come online. The app says no batteries connected. The portal shows them but they have no charge - to be expected.

I’ve tried a calibration. I’ve upgraded the inverter firmware. Nothing do seems to bring them online.

Can anyone suggest options that I can try to get them online?

Thanks

How long were they offline.?
I think there are some posts about flat batteries needing some sort of "kick into life" if they are flat and the inverter cannot do it

Also how have you tried to get batteries back on line?

Were they taken off line in a controlled power down?

Can you do a force charge on the phone app. Click the + button

GarethO If you have 5.2 kW batteries then there is a separate circuit breaker switch between your inverter and the batteries. Check whether that is still turned off then try turning on the batteries by pressing the button on the side.

They were probably online for 3 weeks in the end.
I can power both online via the power switches. They both sow a red status light which isn’t great.

SteveCook is this via the app or web portal?

M_J no it wasn’t controlled sadly. I wasn’t in the house at the time

Ok so how did you try to bring them back up?

Exact steps would be useful to know and any lights or descriptions of what you noted as you undertook the steps would be very helpful.

Powered up the inverter through the isolation switches.
Once powered, pushed the power switches on both batteries - one after the other.
Batteries beeped when on.
Status lights flashed green. Battery charge (low) lights flash.
Starts light went off on both.
Then came back on as red

Ok that's very useful thanks.

It looks like they are ok but need charging, so the battery status lights are red with no green lights to the right showing that they are charged?

Just re read the start of the thread have you initiated a charge on them?

M_J yes, they are set to charge between 11:30pm and 5:30am. But nothing happens.

GarethO You don’t mention turning on the big isolator switch between the inverter and the batteries - might that be off?

You could try pressing and holding in the black button on the side https://kb.givenergy.cloud/assets/FAQs.pdf

If the batteries are really really low charge then I think you will have to get your installer out. There is a procedure to ‘jump start’ the batteries with a booster pack, not something you can do yourself.

Is there a bunch of clicking from the batteries by any chance?
If you turn the battery MCB off and then turn the batteries on does the red light on them go away and the green lights stay on?

geoffreycoan all isolation switches are on.
I have an email with the giv energy support team out. So once they’re back at work I’m sure they’ll respond.

My installer said they couldn’t help sadly.
