We had a power failure from 07 Dec until 11 Dec and ever since our SP/Battery system has failed to reboot.

The Inverter is a HY5.0 - Software Ver DO.449-A0.449. Battery Capacity 5.22kWh

The panels are working and slowly charging the battery (weather not helping) but we are neither importing or exporting energy (the battery is seemingly keeping the inverter running).

The system is clearly not functioning having not rebooted in some way. The online app shows that solar energy is being collected and transferred to the batteries and the battery green lights that show the level of charge are slowly creeping up during the day but declining at night.

I have ensured the dongle is connected to the internet, have tried a manual shutdown and also the online reset of the inverter.

I have also tried calling the GE helpline (now closed) and used the online help and email - all with no reply/support. This is really frustrating as previously they have been superb - very quick to respond and quick to resolve any issue.

If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve the problem - I'd be most appreciative.

What does your dashboard say about the status of the inverter? It may be showing offline and if so you can try to restart the inverter from the inverter page in the top right corner there is a "restart inverter" option.

Otherwise, you may need to try the switch off and on again routine. There is a specific process for that and you will need to look it up. I don't want to say what it is from memory just in case I got it wrong.

Something must be working if the battery is accepting a charge from the panels through the inverter.

We had a power failure after the storm too and I had to do the first step above but it was OK once the inverter restarted into operational mode. The restart may initially report it has failed, but try a few times before you give up. I think ours took 3 or possibly more attempts.

Sion perhaps check the mcb/rcb powering the inverter. One of mine tripped once, and it behaved as you describe - inverter ran from battery and charged from solar, but couldn't access the grid.

@"killythebid" and @"DD" - thank you both. On looking in our meter box, a realised a metal box with a flush fitting cover was hiding the meter and trip switches.

Did a full close down, reset the trips and then a full reset as suggested. I am now a very happy person with the system back on-line :-) - something so simple.

Again - thank you both - wishing you both a happy and hopefully sunny New Year!

Sion I am glad you ate fully up and running again.

I may be off the mark but with your system name I am guessing you are in Wales somewhere and if you were out a few days maybe Y Llyn or Pembroke coast? Somewhere in the West anyway.

If that is the case then Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!

We are in mid North Wales near Y Bala.
