New to solar - Octopus Flux tariff - Help please!

I am new to solar and have had a new system commissioned last week and was finally switched to Octopus Flux tariff yesterday.

I have successfully been able to set the batteries to charge overnight from 2:00-5:00am but am seeing strange things. For example, right now the batteries are at currently 89%, the home demand is 482w but it’s only using 192w from the battery and is importing 290w from the grid (peak rate).

I would expect the battery to be covering everything but it is seemingly not, and I can’t figure out what I need to set. Additionally, it’s importing from the grid at peak rate (4:00pm-7:00pm), which I’d like to avoid.

Please can anyone point me in the right direction to advise which settings I need to make on my inverter to achieve this?

I have eco mode on, with a single off-peak charging time as explained above (that part works), everything else is as default.

It’s just the battery and whole peak import thing that’s bothering me at the moment. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. I have looked on this forum but can’t find anything which matches this scenario.

Inverter: 3.6kW
Batteries: 2 x 5.2kWh

Keep an eye on the energy graph and see how long the grid import goes on (rather than the battery). The inverter may take a few seconds to respond to a house load and commence battery discharge.
Have you got an IHD or OHM. You may get quicker readings of what grid import is occurring.

I use Octo ECO7 in winter as I get 7 hrs of off peak charge and use Flux in summer when there is more sun about

alexw49 Can you show us your power graph dashboard so that we can see what is happening.
You can just take a screenshot of the chart and copy it in. Mine looks like this:

I am on agile but you can see how the battery is being discharged now to prevent grid use 4pm-7pm

Thanks both - I am looking at the app and can see consistent draw from the grid which makes me wonder do I have something not set correctly:

alexw49 Check what your battery discharge rate is set to, might be accidentally set to a low value which is why its preventing the battery discharging to meet the house load spikes you see on the graph.

alexw49 Yes !

Enable DC discharge should be turned On otherwise your battery can’t discharge and Battery Discharge Power should be 3600W as the maximum discharge rate for your inverter.

alexw49 nope these look good. Just make sure Eco mode is turned on and the battery should discharge to meet house load now

Don't think so... Enabled DC discharge controls timed exports. Eco allows battery discharge even with enable dc discharge turned off.

Ah OK, it must just have been the discharge rate that was causing the problem then
