Odd load values - tracking the PV power values

I have a newly installed AIO. When I look at the load figures in either the app or the portal they seem to be affected by the amount of PV power being generated at the time. When there is no PV power being generated, the load figures (which I assume is the amount of power drawn by the house) seem about right. It bumbles along at low 100s Watts to drive the fridge, central heating, etc. It goes up when I put the kettle on, etc. When the sun comes out and several 100 Watts of PV power are generated the load value starts to increase. Looking at the power graph in the portal the load trace shape is very similar to the PV trace in that the peaks and troughs align. Also, the load value seems much more than the house is actually drawing.
Can someone explain why this seems to be happening?

SteveT Welcome !

There’s a few things happening here:

  1. Your AIO and inverter take power to operate even in idle state with an empty battery. If you search the forum you can see others measurement but I think its something like 200-300W
  2. When you convert PV power in DC to AC power, that causes energy conversion losses, typically around 5 to 10%, and if the PV is measured in DC then this conversion losses can appear as house load
  3. Likewise when charging the battery, AC to DC conversion losses incur and can appear as house load
  4. House load isn’t measured by the inverter. It is calculated based on import/export power, solar generation and battery charge/discharge. So think of house load as being imprecise and including the sum of all the above factors

It sounds quite normal behaviour. After a while you just ignore it and look at the solar generation and import/export.

SteveT one other thing, I also have an AIO with hybrid inverter and gateway. Are you looking at the AIO account rather than the hybrid one. On mine the PV matches the house load when viewed through the hybrid. The AIO view gives me the breakdown of where power is flowing.

Thanks for the welcome and your replies.
I understand there are conversion losses and that the system would consider these as part of the overall load. That said, my system has separate inverters (I have two separate PV systems) and their AC outputs are combined. I think the only conversion losses should be to and from the battery in the AIO.
I have tried to attach a screen shot of a section of the power graph from the portal.

Just before 12:00 there was a peak of PV of about 1600W, measured by the AIO's meter on the combined PV. The battery was being charged at about 1370W. At the same time the load was reported as 1060W. The gird import and export figures are near zero at this time. If there was no actual increase in the load drawn by the house, then these figures seem odd. The only power into the system was the 1600W from the PV, of which 1370W was going into the battery, yet the house load is reported as 1060W. It does not add up, even roughly.
I have previously checked the PV meter against the official-type generation meters and it seems pretty accurate.
