Query re battery %

Have today had a second 5.5 battery gen 3 to go with my gen 2 9.5 battery. Been advised to leave it settle down for 24 hours.
The portal currently shows 8% charge. I know there is a cut off of 4%
However if I go into the app. Main battery shows 2% and secondary is 14%.
I’m concerned that this is a problem on main battery going so low or is it likely to just be an app error.
Earlier today portal showed 25%, main battery 24 and secondary 23 and has been discharging down to current values. Should I be concerned at this moment.. thanks.

Richy999 If you add or remove batteries to your inverter your installer would have kicked off a calibration which fully discharges all batteries and then charges them back up again to full. This is so the inverter knows what the full and empty SoC levels are.

The calibration charge and discharge take the battery below the normal 4% and 100% limits.

They should have explained this to you, it all sounds normal. You’ll get a notification when the discharge is completed then another when the charge is completed, then it’ll all be ready for use.

Yes I expected that but there’s been no calibration. Should I initiate it myself

Richy999 your installer should have kicked one off as part of recommissioning the system for the new battery. Strange that it hasn’t.

I think he was probably leaving it to GE to do and they haven’t. It’s now showing 5% and idle, but when I go into each battery the primary shows 5% and secondary 9% so looks like it cut off at 4%. I was worried I may have caused damage by draining the master, but it looks like it was probably an app error. Also I wonder whether they may have scheduled a calibration for 23.30 as I’m on Intelligent octopus pro and it’ll be cheaper.

Richy999 you do get different percentages when you look at the total, the inverter and the individual batteries. Quite why I don’t know, but you do.

I don’t think you will have caused any damage at all. New batteries come with about 1/3 charge and it sounds like you have just used that up. The recalibration lets the inverter know what the high and low SoC % figures are for the battery, but if you don’t do the calibration then it’s just the inverter likely has wrong figures. Not going to cause a major problem
