Octopus are engaged on their second attempt, of the year. GE app shows something 'intelligent' happening but Octopus telling me they haven't managed to completer the links ye.
linking GE battery with Octopus intelligent Flux
Theresapartington62 you complete the enrollment for Octopus Intelligent Flux through the Octopus app, not the GE app. The GE app wouldn’t show there being any remote control from Octopus happening so not sure what you are looking for.
Also wondering why you are joining Octopus Intelligent Flux. Its really a tariff designed for the summer when you are generating loads of solar power, as a rule of thumb 1.4 x solar generation than your home demand. In the winter when there is little solar there are better tariffs to be on
Thank you for your response. I have attempted the enrolment twice now on separate occasions This time there was a link built into the Octopus app to give energy which should have managed to link it all up (the first time I had to try to do it through GE) Anyway it seems now they are communicating but Octopus has no control of my battery eg when it buys energy. They said they would like to disconnect it and install it again but the woman would ring to talk me through what I had to do (yes, me) at 9 this morning - just over two hours ago. I had been quite happy on the ordinary flux for over a year but was persuaded into giving Intelligent flux another go. I can't go through this performance twice a year!! Perhaps I should tell them to transfer me back (or do it on the app) and try again in the summer. GE shows they are importing in off-peak period and using battery in peak period. The sun contributes to battery and house and grid depending on what's going on. Obviously I haven seen any bills yet. GE says it can't see my smart meter and sometimes Octopus says it needs replacing. At the moment they say its fine, which is why Im still on the list waiting for a new one. My query really was to see if other people have had this difficulty dealing with customer services. Current woman seems to be trying and doesn't know why it's not working herself. Last time they just passed me back and forth giving me one link after another - all rabbit holes. No-on has suggested one in the winter and the other in the summer - if I can get IF working properly maybe I will try it. Thanks again. Obviously not everyone has these difficulties.
I had trouble signing up for IOF last year and decided to stick with it over the winter to avoid the grief of trying to get back on it as the sun improves. There is definitely a cost to staying on it over the winter but as my battery has no chance of seeing me through my usage I thought the additional cost was better than playing battery roulette on normal flux. I did consider switching to eco7 for the winter but I have heard thats even harder to switch to/from so doing IOF->Eco7->IOF has high blood pressure written all over it!
IOF export rates have given me a buffer to take the sting out of this winter. Maybe switching will become easier for the next one.....or maybe I'll take the less stress route again and just enjoy the fact that summer solar covers my energy usage for the year
