My AC coupled inverter and battery are just doing their own thing since I have disabled automation setting after changing my Octopus tariff from Agile to a Fixed tariff.
The battery seems to charge from the grid and then the 'eco' mode seems to get turned off. I keep re-enabling it. When I go back to the setting later, it's disabled again. Battery is remains full charge all day and then gets fully exported at around 1800. Any one any ideas on how to fix this. I have tried resetting battery setting to factory.
The battery firmware is not up to date. I have tried to update this 3 times today but get to 90% optimising then fails.

Are Octo still controlling things? Have you deleted all links

Harvey88 that sounds like intelligent flux tariff behaviour, where octopus control the battery.

I have deleted the previous tariff in the givenergy app. Is there any other ways of deleting the links?

SteveCook other than deleting the tariff is there any other ways of deleting the links

Harvey88 You need to revoke Octopus’s remote control of your inverters if that is what has been setup

Account settings (picture of person with a cogwheel)
Manage account security
Manage API tokens

And delete any Octopus API accesses. If you’re not using Wonderwatt, GivBack or similar then this list should be empty

You don’t mention which Octopus Fixed tariff you moved to but it very much sounds like you were signed up to Octopus Intelligent Flux whereby you hand control of your battery over to Octopus. You get the same rate for export as you do for import so its a good tariff for the summer when your solar panels are generating loads, but its not so good in the winter as the import/export rate isn’t the cheapest.

What you’ve now done in deleting the API Key is revoked Octopus’s control of your inverter. If you want to remain on OIF then you’ll need to re-enroll and accept that the battery will do what Octopus wants. Its not a bad tariff and the peak rate export at 18:00 is them exporting your battery at a higher rate for more income for you, but there are alternative tariffs available that might suit you better.

Geoffrey . Thanks for stepping in. I thought it might be something like that, but your detailed knowledge is so much greater than min.

This sounds familiar, an EV owner I know couldn't do the trip that he had planned despite the car being plugged in over night, he actually had less charge in the batterries than the day before. The supplier had used what charge he had, sending it to other homes and businesses.

I can't fathom why anybody would sign up to this, I personally was brought up to be as self reliant as possible, I don't like others having the ability to curtail my freedoms and choices basically.
