I have been getting an intermittent problem where a timed charge that has been set doesn’t get actioned. I’ve traced this through the logs to a very specific set of weird circumstances.
On the days the timed charge failed to be actioned my battery SoC was always at 4% or less (not sure how it quite regularly gets down to 2%, 1%, or even 0% but maybe that’s another issue?) AND battery discharge power happened to be set to zero to prevent discharge at cheaper periods earlier in the day. Battery charge power was always at 2600.
I tested this to confirm, and when battery discharge power is changed up to maximum 2600 the timed charge then starts up. It may be coincidence, but this didn’t happen before a battery firmware upgrade on 27 October.
It seems very illogical that discharge power would interfere with charging, but I use automation software to maximise benefits from Octopus agile, and this set of circumstances can crop up regularly, and prevents charging.
Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just my system, and is there anything I can do?

dnhenderson007 Can you try setting the battery pause mode to Pause Discharge rather than changing the discharge rate?

geoffreycoan I haven’t seen a battery pause mode setting or “Pause Discharge” anywhere. I’ve found an “Enable DC Discharge” switch on the portal is that the same thing? It’s always set to off but the battery still discharges so maybe not. Sorry for my lack of knowledge, can you explain a bit more please? (I have a Gen 1 inverter)

dnhenderson007 ah, if you have a gen 1 hybrid inverter then the battery pause mode isn’t in the version 450/451 firmware that’s the last published release, it is in the Gen 1 191/193 beta firmware and the firmware of the other inverters.
GivEnergy are supposed to be publishing the updated firmware but it seems to have been stalled, so you could ask them what’s happening about the updated gen 1 firmware. Otherwise you are out of luck for battery pause mode.

In most circumstances, turning off ECO is a better way to stop discharge.

My installer spoke with GivE and they have downloaded a fix to the inverter firmware which my installer says should fix the problem, he said he had other customers with the same problem. Will see what happens over the next few days.
