flashing green led on hybrid inverter ?

I was out in the garage and noticed that the green led in the centre of the inverter is flashing. Say once a second or so. Looks like the blue led arrow is pointing towards, rather than away from the battery (or maybe alternating). I think I noticed it previously, and just tested to see if it would charge slowly, and it seemed perfectly happy to.

Battery is empty, and there's obviously no solar, so it might just be telling me it has nothing useful to do ? No notifications or anything. I'm going to assume it's nothing to worry about unless someone tells me otherwise.

DD pretty sure it’s the physical equivalent of the “waiting” orange icon you get on the portal. I.e
Battery flat
PV off
Not doing anything.

what does portal page indicate?

SteveCook didn't seem to be reporting anything unusual. (And as expected, recharged fine overnight.)

DD I think this just means idle. Is the battery at a pre-determined charge level and no longer charging? Or is ECO off and neither charge nor discharge on?

Windy Miller Battery was empty (run down to 4%) and no solar. So yeah, probably just saying it was idle. (Perhaps this is the closest it could get to twiddling its thumbs.)

Try setting it to charge from the grid for a little while and see what happens?

One observation from p23:

• With any installation – indoors or outdoors - your installer should leave adequate clearance around the system for ventilation.
• Certain actions – such as ... housing your battery improperly ... – can void your warranty

So insulating it against the cold in the winter may be a bad idea ..?

DD Probably need to read the exact wording in the warranty and installation manual to understand what if any restrictions are placed on “housing your battery improperly”.

In the Gen 2 battery installation manual https://givenergy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/UK-Installation-Manual-Gen-2-Battery.pdf for example it says it must be installed vertically and if outside it must be installed above the frost line or 50mm ground clearance, but there is nothing about ventilation or insulation.

The inverter manuals do have more restrictions, e.g. the Gen 2 hybrid inverter https://givenergy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Gen-2-Hybrid-Inverter-Installation-Manual.pdf has minimum clearances and requirements for height above ground and a canopy installed if fitted outside.

Having said that, my installers fitted my inverters with less than the recommended clearance above the inverters. I have subsequently removed the existing cupboard that was above them to improve summer ventilation.
