My inverter is showing as “Lost” 16 hours ago. Connection to gateway says is ok. Means I’m not seeng any new data on the app or cloud. WiFi is working fine. Any ideas? Think it might be to do with switch over to SSO sign in so logged in the new way but still nothing. Any help appreciated thanks

Bg2024 If the inverter is showing as lost in the GivEnergy portal then it means that communication from your inverter through your wifi/ethernet to the GivEnergy cloud has been lost.

Usually can restore this by rebooting your WiFi router, or failing that, powering off the inverter and powering back on so it tries to reconnect to the network

Interesting.

My Dad is having issues with his AIO and connectivity, it was working up until a broadband outage on Friday, he rebooted the AIO this morning but comms still haven't come back up.

Mobile App shows offline for 3 hours. I can get onto web portal, but it was very slow to load, and it has had no data since 10am (3 hours).

I’m not convinced the status’s on the ‘my inverters’ list are correct.

Looking just now, I have two inverters and one shows Green ‘normal’, the other shows Grey ‘unknown’.

But yet if I look at the meter data then I have a full set of data every 5 minutes up to 1 minute ago for both inverters so they must be online

I have had two offline messages on the App yesterday. It may be at the server end. Both refreshed a few minutes after I noticed.

Turned battery of with button on side waited 30s and then turned on again. After 10 minutes communication restored. No data in the app for the down period. Anyone know if this can be recovered ?

Bg2024 No, any data when the system wasn’t connected is lost. Its not stored on the inverter

Today, I experienced countless power cuts from 2:30pm-7pm, the first for a couple of years.
Sometimes I lost GE connectivity. At other times, the dongle connected when power came on.
My current position is not good having had no connectivity since 7 pm, despite my efforts.
I have followed the instructions to the letter, watched several videos. The problem seems to be the inverter connecting to GE servers.
There are quite a few comments about connectivity to GE servers here and on other threads and I wonder whether GE has a problem with their servers!

That's me done for today. I will see if connectivity is restored overnight.
I am now PV only and Agile rates for saving costs. House is cold as I switched HP off mid afternoon.

As I only saw server not connected when I looked I have no idea if that was at the moment I looked or time previous. I think you are correct.

Roy124 Since my earlier post, power has gone off again. It came back briefly, and then off again. I have managed to speak to someone at Northern Power Grid and they hope to fix it (again!) he told me that power had also tripped half way though the night. They had put 3 replacement fuses in the substation and all have now blown.

Before this, I went through another 'dongle dance' (again) but with no success.
I have a heat pump and so had no heating yesterday from 2 pm and I then kept HP switched off until going to bed.
I put heat pump on stand by overnight to get a bit of warmth back in house.
My 2 batteries were nearly full when power cut hit yesterday. Bizarrely, batteries are now both half full from the green lights on the front of each battery. Looking at Octopus usage on my home mini, it looks as if my electricity was being taken from my batteries so it is the connectivity that seems to be the issue (apart from power cuts), either to my network, or to GE's servers, or to both.
On GE portal, there is no entry since 6:44pm yesterday.

Rbor As long as your inverter wasn’t in charge freeze mode (reserve set to current SoC), when the power came back the batteries should start delivering power back to the home Rob.

I know you at the moment have other power issues, but given the amount of connectivity problems you seem to have, I wonder if there isn’t something more fundamental that your inverter doesn’t like about your wifi (2.4 vs 5GHz, fast roaming, clashing wifi signals from your neighbour) or whether replacing your inverter dongle might improve reliability ?

geoffreycoan Thanks. I am trying to get my installers to come out.
I am using a 2.4 GHz SSID on my mesh. In the settings, I have fast roaming switched off and even Mesh off for my inverter. I set this up so that the nearest mesh access point was closest to the inverter. It comes up as 91% when I try to set up the dongle (again).
I have mentioned clicking noises. Is this a 'click of death'?
Every morning at daylight, my SolarEdge PV inverter makes clicking noises as it starts up PV energy pull from my panels. This is normal.

Rbor sounds like you have all the right mesh settings on your wifi, but maybe check with a signal analyser app whether one of your neighbours is broadcasting on the same channel which might be causing the flakiness.
Clicking sounds like relays trying to engage. I hear mine click when the inverter swaps mode from charging to discharging or when the battery is first turned on. Your AC3 and my Gen 1 hybrid are a lot slower to react to things happening than the newer kit so we probably hear the relays more

Click of death is a set of clocks very fast followed by the battery/batteries turning off.

So as long as they remain lit, it's probably not that. Fingers crossed!

geoffreycoan Thought I had got it set up with a steady blue light on dongle. But givTCP3 couldn't find the inverter and there was no IP address assigned to it.

You recommend deleting .pkl files. Where are they hidden away?

I have finally managed to get back with an IP address for my inverter and connectivity back to givTCP3 and to predbat.
What a relief. My final move was to set a fixed IP address on the dongle software. Perhaps I should have tried this much earlier.
I also found a really old piece of software called NetSpot on my 12 year old Intel 13" MacBook (Macs last long time and this has always been my favourite!)
NetSpot picked out all networks, and their strength, that could reach my porch, where my inverters and batteries live. The strongest was the inverter's local network but that didn't stop it from dropping so many times. I have found an updated version of NetSpot, together with many other wifi analysers.

Yes having a fixed IP address is definitely a good idea for your inverter. Personally I set the fixed IP at the router end, so the router allocates the initial DHCP IP address and then I fix it. I have seen problems in the past with devices that the device says it wants a specific fixed IP address and the router rejects the request, possibly because its allocated it to another device! So hence why I do the IP allocation at the router end.
I also have my mesh set to passthrough so the mesh doesn’t do any IP allocation, the router does it all. One less area for fighting

I did have this a fixed address allocated by my main router but with the dongle losing connectivity, it got lost amongst the Offline Clients.
At one stage, I did get an address allocated but I had forgotten to specify the address again and a new address was allocated. givTCP then objected! I tried to get into the WebUI but couldn't as givTCP was 'running'. If I stopped givTCP, the WebUI button disappeared. The first page in the Configuration contains the inverter's IP address.
So then I set everything in the dongle software.
Having finally got it working, I am not touching it!
Unfortunately, Northern Powergrid have a temporary repair in place and the energy supply will doubtless be cut again in the next few days. I just hope that the dongle survives another power interruption.
I really don't understand how Givenergy have made such a 'pigs ear' of connectivity.
Throughout all the power outages, the SolarEdge PV inverter has come through unphased. There is not manual setting – it just works and it is also wifi.

I am sure I looked in TCP cache for the pkl files but sure enough there are 5 there.
I will leave them but if I have any future connectivity issues they will be the first to go.

Tonight has been such a relief and I realise just how much the whole experience had stressed me out.

that will not be helping and likely causing part of your problem

If your dongle SSID hotspot is broadcasting on the same channel as your nearby mesh node (or any of your neighbours also on the same channel) you will be getting contention. Change one or the other to avoid the clash. I can’t remember the guidance but you need to move it at least 2 channels away and there are some channels that are better to use (less cluttered) than others. Google it

SInce moving from a powerline extender to a mesh network my inverter connectivity has been rock solid. I added another mesh node in the garage so have 6 in total in the house and an outside shed I get wifi everywhere.
The only issue was the initial connectivity with the 2.4/5 clash, when I finally tried turning the 5 network off it connected first time and has been golden ever since

geoffreycoan In NetSpot, my Mesh is set to 6, 1 (unsure why there are 2!)
I can set the dongle to 11 (next time). There are other SSIDs showing with 11 but these are very weak.
As the porch is at front of house, it picks up many more networks than at the back. But we have plenty of space around our houses here.
