which is more accurate my smart meter or the legacy dashboard. i just received my latest bill from my electricity supplier it was about 20% more than the legacy dashboard. the time interval was from 1st of april to the 1st of june so easy to see?
smart meters vs givenergy
As a rule the smart meter is going to be the more accurate arbiter, since it's handling the flow in and out live . The GivEnergy data is based on the sample rate of the Inverter via the CT clamp and thus will tend to be off.
TonyAbse The Givenergy portal data is interesting but (IMHO) cannot be relied on to be accurate. The Smart meter on the other hand is certified for accuracy (whether the data is fed live to DCC or not) and that is the device that is used to determine what you pay to your supplier and also what your SEG tariff provider pays to you.
The data recorded and posted to the Givenergy portal by my inverters looks reasonable enough but my portal reports house consumption from only one inverter and as far as I can see that is the data that appears in the reports. I have emailed support and @Danlambert (GivEnergy) asking for the issue to be sorted, but nothing back from anyone.
Having kit that is performing as it is designed is what is important to me. If the portal data and reports were correct that would be the icing on the cake but it looks like they're playing catch up with all things app and portal.
