Hi all.
I'm still having Comms issues with my allinone system.
I've tried reverting back to WiFi from Lan and when changing the dip switches, I noticed that I have an unconnected ethernet cable coming from the top part of the gateway (behind the main electrical connections panel) routing down next to the Comms panel, but not plugged into anything.
Can anyone tell me what that's for please?

Mondriver you have an early gateway then - so if your trying to make it work on LAN then you connect your LAN cable to this dangling one, NOT the port marked LAN on that little daughter board(*) because that one isn't actually connected correctly to the dongle guts on the main gateway PCB.
There should be a small rj45 coupler thing kicking around to connect your LAN cable to this.
*I'm lead to believe that this fail is also related/identifies those gateways that have no working N-E relay, so if your system may well do the whole 120V between Neutral & Earth thing...

...and should be replaced at GE's cost as its non-compliant with UK wiring regs (& always has been).

PianSom GE haven't exactly been pro-active contacting affected customers (or installers) though. Strictly speaking it also invalidates home insurance as its non-compliant with wiring/safety regs - unlikely it'd be noticed but its always a possibilty.

I was having issues with Island mode (ie power cut; I had tripping on the GW and/or my fuse board). A replacement GW was suggested by GE support. It was replaced by my installer at GE's expense (he also fitted an earth rod at the changeover, since this was not a requirement when I had my original install - also at their expense), but actually this didn't solve the issue.
GE then sent an engineer, who said earth leakage in the house was the underlying problem. Eventually, I paid for a new fuse board, and the testing for this then discovered what I suspect was the problem - some 20y ago someone fitted a light fitting wiring neutral to earth. For some reason this didn't flip the CU RCD.
Long answer, but the short version is - GE suggested the replacement.
Mondriver Basically in a power cut, the following is supposed to happen -
1) Inverter disconnects from grid via a couple of relays;
2) Inverter connects local neutral to local earth spike via another relay;
3) Inverter then supplies EPS circuits.
The earlier builds of the gateway don't actually do 2) above so there's no neutral to earth connection.
This results in what appears to be 120Vac on neutral and 120Vac on live to produce the 240Vac used for EPS.
It also probably means that none of your RCD/RCBO breakers in the consumer unit would trip when in off-grid (island) mode.
You need to talk to your installer.
As an aside GE must have a pretty good idea who has these early build gateways so its beyond shoddy they haven't contacted them 🙁

Since they shut down the online chat/help, I’ve found customer service to be severely lacking tbh.
You could suggest that HSE might want to look at this. Might elicit some action before anyone has a serious problem/injury
GE replaced my AIO Gateway (S/N 2330, so week 30 of 2023) with a newer model (S/N 2412, so week 12 of 2024) for exactly this reason when I eventually ran my own electrical checks and complained about it (no N-PE bond relay operating, so120v ac N-E and 120v ac L-E when operating in Island Mode and RCD Test buttons not operating, ie TT earthing system).
The IET Code Of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems 2nd Edition Section 9.4 expresses a clear preference for a TN-S earthing system (N-PE bond relay and independent earth rod/plate) rather than TT when in Island Mode.
Also, the new Gateway still used a flying cable for the LAN connection rather than the rather more obvious LAN port on the daughter board.
