Does anyone know what the going rate would be for selling a GE 9.5? I’m considering upgrading to something larger (AIO possibly) and want to know if I could make it work! It would be just over 2 years old and have around 700 cycles on it with a little degradation of a couple percent. Cheers

Second hand batteries seem to hold value relatively well, despite the PiTA need for recommissioning them (they fair better than their inverters that almost go at e-waste money for G1). That being said there is the new Gen3 version of the 9.5 and so you can seem to pick up brand new ones of the G2 around 2.6k now off eBay.
Looking at eBay I’d say somewhere between 1.5-2k as that sort of puts you in a spot as a buyer where it’s kinda worth the risk + installation over just buying new.
I believe the warranty on these is not transferred if over 1 year old? Don’t quote me on that but given the 9.5s have a habit of their busbar a undoing themselves (& this would be another transport trip for the pack) then I’d consider posting up a 16 cell voltage full charge trace with the advert to prove it’s condition before it gets moved to another house. If it goes wonky on its trip then eBay as ever will likely side against you.
The second hand market for GE kit is not great as you need a GE approved installer to install it.
hoggy Hmmm interesting food for thought and definitely noted on the charge trace (would you just post a screen grab of GivTCP breakdown? I wonder if it might be more valuable sold as a system (2 AC3's, 4 9.5s and all associated sundries. I was hoping I might get around the 8/9K mark for everything in order to make the upgrade workable.

Al E.Gator at that kind of size system I’d maybe ask around some local installers (or even do a deal with the one your looking at an AIO with) as they will probably be able to shift it easier + recommission it.
AC3 inverters go for about 250-300 second hand but don’t forget the EM115 meters can go as well if you’re having the gateway fitted.
I’m unsure of the cost comparison of the new HV Hybrids (just run without PV) to an AIO or what cost impact the AIO2 would have on the older AIO if you waited until it’s release?
There’s also Polar I guess. Not pretty but does match the 6kW of the AIO from battery.
hoggy Yeah I have asked the original installer and they offered £6k for the lot which I think is a bit low given the age and system price but maybe I’m expecting a little too much for it!

As with all things, second-hand values is not based on what you think it's worth. Rather it's value is worth exactly what someone is prepared to pay for it
Zakalwe Yeah completely agree. It's just tricky to judge whether to look into it further when there's so few examples of second hand kit being sold to base the financials off. My original plan was to look at PW3's but that was thwarted as they do not support optimisers on the panels when the solar is connected directly.
An unused but open box unwarrantied one sold for around £1750 on eBay recently. I guess there would be around £250 in fees plus potential hassle with buyers, packaging and transport.
Avenir That's quite the reduction in new price. Perhaps I wouldn't end up getting enough for them!
The biggest problem I've been seeing is finding someone with an installer account who is willing to do the commissioning. I'm currently annoyed with myself that I didn't go on the GE installer course before they brought in the silly requirement for attendees to show their NICEIC or similar registration/closed shop documents. Can't afford £400/year just to be able to manage my own kit...
Used value would be far higher if it was not a closed eco system.
Of course there are folk that can navigate those issues and others that buy and don't realise it's a closed eco system.
It just limits demand and lowers prices..

The course certificate is only valid for one year so if you had done the course you would have had to installed within a year.
I went this route but will not be re sitting due to this new requirement.
NICEIC membership would cost a lot more than you suggest as there is a requirement to have certified /calibrated and specified types of equipment so the initial investment and yearly ongoing costs are more.

A) a higher charge/ discharge rate?
B) more storage?
Or both?
If it’s A) you could consider replacing your current inverters with larger ones as an alternative? Might that work out as a cheaper way to achieve your goal?

The only meaningful inverter upgrade that reuses the batteries is to swap the AC3 inverter for a hybrid inverter, but even the Gen 3’s only have 3.6kWh charge/discharge rate so its only a small increase on the AC3’s 3kWh

I think my biggest gripe is the unreliability of the system (hence considering other manufacturers), plus the lack of support of others has really knocked my faith in GE. I have constant capacity issues, power issues, severe degradation on 2 of the batteries, charge/discharge rate, usable storage etc etc. I just personally don't think baby sitting the system on a daily basis is acceptable and often having to correct things that go wrong. I know our system is more complicated with having multiple inverters and batteries but given this isn't something GE support readily and something such as a PW3 does, it makes a fairly interesting argument of changing... depending on the resale value of the GE kit.

Rbor Well it balances the batteries fairly well but I have an ongoing issue where I draw consistently large amounts of grid power when the SOC of the batteries drops below about 35% for example if I am demanding 6kW (which is often when the heating is running) the batteries will only provide 4.5kW and the remaining 1.5kW will be met by the grid at peak rate. I have brought this to the attention of GE for months now and heard not a peep, including the developer of the EMS

I looked into selling my system not long ago in the hope of a AIO upgrade. The offers I got were laughable. Maybe its changed in the last 6 - 9 months.
An AC3 new at the moment is around £400 (half price offer), 9.5kw £3000 each, EMS included. So £12800, resale value £4600 - £5200?.
When I did get an offer for my dual ac3's and 2 batteries it was based on me paying to have the kit unplugged to need to factor that in. Couple hundred quid.
I have recently added a 3rd AC3 and gen 3 9.5 fully installed and wired to my EMS for £4200 fuse box tidy in that too. Currently very happy with the setup.

Al E.Gator Sadly yes. However the EMS device made my life better.
Do you have givtcp installed? You can load your inverter settings directly to see your AC3 settings in another way. Given the issues you listed above it sounds like there is some limit set on one of the batteries. I know the response times of the beta EMS is not great. You can see the image below I still get a chunk of peak grid draw when my system is capable of 9kw discharge, it just reacts differently. However the second release (retail release) is due fairly soon

[unknown] I do have GivTCP, but was told by the head of the EMS program repeatedly that the issue of limited output was due to GivTCP, so I unplugged the RPi running GivTCP from the wall and only interacted with the system through the GE portal... same issue arose and when I provided the data from the portal to the head of the EMS program and pointed out that nothing else was running, all I have heard is deafening silence.

What a load of baloney. GivTCP is just subscribed to the modbus messages being published by the inverter/EMS. Can’t see at at all how that has anything to do with how quickly the EMS responds to load changes.
Its down to the EMS firmware

I was under the impression you can poll the EMS itself as much as you want via GivTCP (Well, the usual 10 second kind of thing)
If you mess directly with the inverters under the EMS control then yes you can cause havoc and mess it all up.
